Crossposted from Second Tri forum....as maybe you ladies will understand.

I have an appointment today and my OB appointments are a source of anxiety. I had an early miscarriage in my first pregnancy which was discovered at a routine appointment, so I am always terrified of them. I'm so scared about going in today and something being wrong! Or them not realizing that something is wrong....

As I've posted about, my ongoing fear is that I'm leaking amniotic fluid because I have so much clear, watery discharge. I have taken to wearing a light liner which seems to make it not really visible, but last night I didn't wear one and woke up with the entire crotch of my underwear being not wet but damp ALL over.

And then I'm also worried because of reduced movement lately. Normally I feel relatively regular movement, not going more than a couple hours without it, but for about 30 hours or so I didn't....from like 5pm on Tuesday until like 10pm last night I felt almost nothing!! Since then I've felt more (it's been about 12 hours) including some kicks big enough to see and for my husband to feel, and feeling her squirm right now. But she's not like, moving like crazy or anything.

And then I read an old post on bnb where a woman posted at 25 weeks about fears that she was leaking amniotic fluid. She went in and they told her it was fine. Well, come to find out five weeks later she was posting about there being no heartbeat and no amniotic fluid...she lost her baby after all!

UGH! I hate this anxiety!

Aw honey, I so sorry you are going through a possible scare right now. I've never been in that situation before but I can understand your fear to a certain extent having had several miscarriages. The biggest help I've found when I'm terrified out of my wits is to hop on BnB. The ladies here are tremendously supportive. And if you are worried about your baby, don't hesitate to tell your doctor your concerns. If they aren't worried too, then go to someone else who will listen. Decreased movement can be a sign something is going on. If it happens again, go in. If you can't get to your dr's office, go to the ER. As for the discharge, it could be normal but for that amount, I would be nervous too. Definitely have your doctor test it. I think there's a strip they use (kind of like a poas) that detects amniotic fluid. Hope you get some answers! Good luck! :hugs:

I called my doctor, and the nurse and doctor both told me that since I was only 24 and a half weeks, it's too early to worry about reduced movement. :-/ I do have an appointment today though. She is moving more this morning, but I'm still worried.

This first started when I was in Italy on vacation about three weeks ago. I went to the hospital there in a panic. The doctor did not use the test strip, but did an ultrasound to check fluid levels and did a very brief manual/visual examination of my cervix.....she said it was "totally fine and not a worry." I said, "Well, are you going to use the test strip?" And she told me that it wasn't necessary and to stop being crazy (in not quite those words)! I don't know what to think!

Sometimes doctors make me so mad. I've had similar experiences with drs at my hospital though never with my regular doctor. She's a dream but others have pooh-poohed my concerns and jumped to conclusions that ended up being wrong. Luckily every time it hasn't been anything serious but it's always aggravating when you are terrified out of your wits and it feels like the people who *should* be able to tell you what's wrong either can't or won't. I'd still push for the amniotic fluid test if you are getting that much discharge. It can't hurt, right? And just monitor your baby's movement. If it's that long without anything and you can't make her move, then I'd go in and get checked out. Even if the doctor says it's too early, you still worry and that's not good for you or the baby.
