Are you still having sex past 30 weeks?

Sex, what's that?? :haha: we haven't had sex in ages because I'm the size of a house and sooo uncomfortable :( feel so sorry for my OH! Plus baby is sooo far down I'm sure he will fall out! But that's the only reasons, I don't think it can cause labour unless baby is ready :)

I do have a high risk pregnancy due to APS and i inject daily blood thinning injections. And being induced anytime from 37-39 weeks, depending on how well she grows!

But im not high risk for pre-term labour so I guess I can DTD away :D

I'm sure your MW or consultant would have warned you if you couldn't :flower: enjoy ;)

I stopped having sex at 24 weeks. My Doctor didn't suggest it, but my labor began after having sex with my first (at 28.6 weeks) and with my second (at 35 weeks -- we weren't having sex but decided to give it a try one day at exactly 35 weeks) so I am taking every precaution necessary.

I have a history of preterm labor though, so this isn't the norm for every woman.

Baby will only come if baby is really ready. Sex won't induce a completely unripeded cervix.

I'm thinking to give my hubby done two more times so I'm not bothered by guilt after the birth lol!! I'm a strictly hands off after birth for like 3-4 months.

nopeeee. i haven't wanted to have sex since like 4 months. i have had a painful BH after getting myself off tho. so i think i will wait until after baby comes :p

We are still having sex every day, and I'm 34 weeks. I wouldn't worry. The issue is more comfort than anything else, but I still enjoy the intimacy of it. So far, a lot of the pregnancy old wives' tales have been false for me, so I'm really skeptical about these rumors. I plan to keep having sex until the very end! :sex:

I actually just read somewhere that this isn't scientifically based and holds no conclusive evidence but that it is noticed in statistics those who abstain go into labor earlier than those who continue to DTD. Funny huh? :)

That's definitely not my case! :haha:

I'd like to see that article. I'd be interested in the statistics of women who dtd and going later in their pregnancy. I haven't dtd much at all this pregnancy. Maybe 4 times total. Maybe I'd want to dtd in future pregnancies. Do you have the article to share? Is your article not scientifically based or did the article try to debunk the science of sex and labor? I'm confused on that. However, Here are a couple of links about the different chemicals that happen during sex.

First is prostaglandins that are present in semen. The information is there regarding the help with induction of labor.

https://www.elmhurst.edu/~chm/vchembook/555prostagland.html

This one is long, but regards oxytocin and has a segment on orgasm and labor.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3183515/

Here's one on oxytocin and labor (and oxytocin in general)

https://www.vivo.colostate.edu/hbooks/pathphys/endocrine/hypopit/oxytocin.html

Here is one that explains that, while there is not enough data to state a positive outcome of inducing labor, there is sufficient evidence on the ripening the cervix (which is what I said in my post). There are references at the bottom of the page.

https://www.givingbirthnaturally.com/does-sex-induce-labor.html

Though, it is my firm belief that sex will help prepare the body through uterine contractions (similar to BH as practice contractions) and prostaglandins in the semen to help ripen the cervix. That is what my research leads me to believe. The links are for the women who want to read them and use them for their own research about sex.

Wow... Lol.

I read that article months ago, and the article did not provide a link or resource to their claim that statistically according to a study that those who had sex didn't labor quicker and those who abstained did.

I don't tend to bookmark anything other than recipes and cooking ideas, so you can just take my information with a grain of salt ;-)

Awe shucks, I was going to use it to show OH if I get pregnant again that we should dtd all the time, hahah. He got so freaked out by my pregnancy and having sex. He just can't do it anymore. Last time was around 20 weeks  we never dtd a lot anyhow, but my drive went up in 2nd tri, it would have been nice, lol. Oh well. I can't now anyhow and it'd be a pain, literally. Thanks for responding, I appreciate it.

P.S. I like cooking recipes too :D

That's amazing. Our hospital has a 40% section rate. which means if they try and induce me and it doesn't work very quickly,

Lol I'm sorry! Things have been quiet here too, but that's because for the first time ever I just absolutely have no desire whatsoever!

40%?! That's terrible!!! Do you know why that is? Where in the world are you?

That account has been hacked or is a troll. That exact post is on several of the threads here this morning...

Oh phew! Well not at the troll but hoping there isn't a hospital with a rate that high unless specialising in high risk only!

I wish we were still having sex, my OH doesn't seem to want to touch me anymore :(

Although my desire isnt as strong as what it was pre-pregnancy, i would still like to enjoy sex.. OH is completely turned off by pregnancy though!!!! to begin with i was nervous of causing bleeding so we've only had sex 3-4 times all pregnancy!!! soo jealous of you ladies still getting it regularly lol :D

We were put on a sex ban, I had bled from week 13 and first tri I was too nervous. I cant actually remember the last time we did :dohh: Sometime in first tri. Im 37 weeks on Thursday with no spotting since week 22 so im thinking we may give it a whirl. I know from last time it was months afterwards that I wanted to dtd so I want to feel close to hubby again before our world gets turned upside down. xx
