I'm starting to get really worried, I'm 24 weeks and have put on 1.5 stone already. I have put on 6 pounds in the last week and a half alone. I had a healthy BMI before pregnancy but am slightly worried now what I may be by the end! I had no MS so didnt lose any weight in the early days. Anyone put on this much or more by 24 weeks?

I've put on 7lbs in 2 weeks so in total since the beginning I've put on a stone... I'm getting very upset as I over weight already and it killing my back, I'm really having watch what I eat now

Just to add I'm nearly 22wks

I'm nearly with you. I'm 24 weeks and have gained 8.5 kg or 18 pounds. I have the strange sensation that what goes in one end just isn't coming out the other. I've been looking at all the "pregnancy weight gain calculators" online and find that they vary a lot and they always say your individual pattern of weight gain may be very different from the straight line graph that they show. All we can do is make sure to eat a variety of good food and try to get a little exercise. I don't think you have any reason to worry and certainly don't make yourself miserable by trying not to gain weight. Your body knows what it is doing!

I've already put on about a stone and I'm only 20 weeks. I was at my lowest weight just before getting pregnant (due to wedding!) and I didn't lose any in the first few months. I had refused to weigh myself until last week, I am horrified that it's a stone already!

Me too! I am up to about that, last time I weighed myself I was +15lb!! So I am with you!

My mum said she put on loads with me and my brother... I'm hoping thats why and it'll all vanish once bubba is here!!

I'm worrying too. I was overweight to begin with and I've put on 2 stone!! :( I'll be 27 weeks tomorrow and I have no idea how much is too much?! :dohh: My friend put on a total of over 4 stone by the end and I'm worried about doing the same!! Giving up smoking has had something to do with my over-eating  I lost weight quickly not long before getting pregnant too, I don't know if that counts for anything?!

I put on almost a stone by 14weeks. i'm only little (7.5 stone pre-preg) so it was a shocker!! i was up to stone and half by 20weeks, and haven't weighed myself since.

I heard most of the weight goes on last tri (eeeek!!) but i also heard some ladies gain gradually throughout. I'm hoping the latter is me...!!!!

I think scales should be banned from all preggo's houses, only mw and docs should weigh us if concerned!!

Thanks ladies, I'm glad it's not just me then! Hopefully it will all just fall off afterwards ;) x

Same here, I was just over 7 and a half stone before, now at 15 weeks i am nearly 8 and a half . So looks like I'm heading the same way. I asked my midwife about it today and she said not to worry and that a stone of weight around this gestation is normal so I'm not gonna worry about it

Weight gain does happen for a reason, fat stores for breast-feeding and in case of food shortages after the baby is born. Unfortunately evolution will take a while to catch up with the fact that most of us (certainly in developed countries) have plenty to eat these days.

i gained 5 stone in my first pregnancy. i'm 5ft 3 i looked like a weeble. a stone was in the last week with pre-eclampsia . 4 stone with 2nd was on bed rest for 2 months though!.
So far not sure as scales had to be replaced i would say about a stone though eeek.

On a positive note: stop worrying ladies! Our body is doing an amazing thing making a person. Only you know what you've been eating: too many cookies? Then yes, you know where the fat comes from.

I put on a stone 2 lbs at 23 weeks. But it's all bump and water. I had to be honest and say yes I've eaten loads over Xmas.

But if you're eating healthy then don't worry. It's blood, baby and water. And yes fat storage. The good news is that you'll lose half that when baby is out.

I've stopped worrying now cos I know im not indulging and I'm creating a person.

Enjoy your curves!!!! I do pregnancy yoga DVD and it's made a difference. Look on Amazon.

At 20 weeks I had put on 2 stone 2 pounds.

I also did not have morning sickness to the extent where I puked, I ate my way through it.

I have not weighed myself since, but will say its all bump boobs and a little extra on the bum to even things out.

I have gone past worrying tbh, I do not think I am overeating, just my body obviously wanted more weight (was 8 stone 2 when I got pregnant).

That makes me feel a little better twilliamssbt - apart from the fact that I was a hell of a lot fatter than you to begin with :P

I've put on 12lb in 25 weeks. I put on alot more with my first though! I have eaten so much chocolate etc so i'm sure it will catch up with me!! x

I am 19 weeks and have put on 9 lbs so far. Am trying to track my weight as have been very overweight before (5 years ago) and worked hard to get it off and keep it off. I don't want to gain too much, am aiming for 2/2.5 stone.. Its hard as my appetite has definetly increased!!

The trouble is I pretty much know my weight gain has been caused by al the Xmas chocolates ;)

I put on a bit of weight (about a stone) and went from just under 9st to just under 10st BEFORE I got pregnant. I've only put on about 4lbs since (I'm 14 weeks now) but I've had serious MS. I feel huge though and have the worst water retention!! Everyone's different and as long as you're TRYING to eat healthily you will be fine :)
