Lo is 3 weeks old, he was going to sleep at night quite easily, but in the last week will stay awake between 7-midnight, he is content until about 10pm & then cries until he eventually falls asleep around about midnight. We try to get him to sleep earlier but he just keeps waking after 5 mins. Is there any way to stop this, or is he still to young? He sleeps well through the night & the rest of the day, sleeping 2-3 hours at a time & waking for a feed & nappy change & goes back to sleep pretty easily. Do we just have to wait until he is a little older for a sleep pattern/routine?

At that age until he was about 5-6 months my LO bedtime was 12-1am and he would wake up at 12-1pm. He changed his own routine when he was around 7+ months going to bed around 10-11pm. I then cut a nap (kept him stimulated when.he would have his nap) so he would go to bed earlier it worked for a while as he was in bed at 8pm. Now it varies between 8-11pm.

Good luck x

Sounds the same as Quinn was. He started going to sleep at 7ish from 9 weeks old ish.

Try to prevent overtiredness by settling for naps after 45 minutes awake time.

I found with both my boys that they were really unsettled in the evenings in that period. Clearly tired but wouldn't sleep & cluster feeding etc. Started from about 3 weeks old, although got much worse from about 10 weeks. Both started going up to bed at 8pm ish at 14/15 weeks.

It def will end but not sure if there's any way to speed up the process!

my baby did this at around 2-3 weeks old. it was like he didn't know the difference between night and day. I just kept on with the routine of bath, feed, lights out at the last feed (started off around 9pm and its now at 12 weeks 7pm). It only lasted about a week for us luckily. In that week even when he wouldn't settle straight away I'd stay in the room, lights off until he'd settle.

I made sure he napped better during the day too which I think really made all the difference. By making sure I mean holding him for naps but that's a bad habit I wouldn't recommend as he refuses to nap now if he's not on me! Although I'd rather have that and get some sleep at night.
