A friend bought me one of these ....

.... are these the ones that we shouldnt be using anymore due to a report out today in the news ???

Your one obviously transforms into different types of slings, but for the newborn, the craddly one, that is very much like the ones they have said to stop using.
I don't know yet if it's just a small issue that has been multiplied by media hype and that it's coincidence that the deaths of the children happened to have those slings (which it could be as they're very popular now, I'm sure a lot of mums have them) but maybe if you ARE going to use that sling, when the baby is newborn, you keep double check on baby and make sure that everything is breathable, but if you can do without using it, it may be safer?

Never know whats truth and what isn't with media =(

I can't seem to use your link but i have one a little similar and have emailed the manufacturers to see what they say, just a thought xx

I think after some discussion and all, that using the sling design altogether with a newborn just wouldn't make me feel comfortable. I think they're fine once baby is older, but I'd rather be safe than sorry and just going to avoid putting new baby into the sling. I was going to get the same one you linked to, but getting the Mei Tei carrier instead and avoiding the problem altogether.
