Im just a bit concerned as he seems to glug it down so fast (I can even hear it going into his stomach!) and maybe because of this he has started to choke and gasp for air, its very scary. Anyone have any ideas on how to prevent this?

My lo glugs and caughs some times (usually when she has gone a while between feeds) She is also a prpjectile vomiter :( No advice im afraid on the gasping/choking... id ask your health visitor or doctor...

My LO does this too. It's like she's eating the it's the first and the last time she'll ever eat. And believe me, she nurses a lot! I'd love any advice on this also!

It's most likely the result of a fast let down. If you take them off the breast when they are at their "fastest gulping" does your milk spray out like water cannons? If it does, that's a fast/strong let down.

I have one and both my kids struggled with it. They learned to deal with it in different ways. However, by about 3 months they had mastered it and it didn't cause them problems anymore. DD did a lot of gulping and had bad gas problems as result. DS did a lot of choking/gagging/coughing along with unlatching.

You can always hand express to start until you get the let down flowing, some women have luck with that. Also, you can try nursing lying on your back. Tricky, but possible.

Personally, I just powered through it and had my kids power through it, too. It worked out fine.
