I used to wear LO in a stretchy wrap until he got too heavy for it when I bought a woven one. I find it quite a palava to put on, which is okay if I am wearing it straight out of the house but I am normally driving somewhere first which means I have to try to get it on in a freezing car park somewhere lol - it's a hassle and has meant I haven't really been using it :( I've been thinking how easy it'd be to just have a normal carrier rather than a wrap/ sling type carrier but I seem to remember hearing/ reading that they are bad for baby's hips - is this correct?

I find wovens a palaver too, dragging fabric along the ground in car parks etc. The baby Bjorn type carriers are bad for hips but there are plenty that aren't, and hold lo in the correct position, e.g ergo, manduca, rose and rebellion, to name a few. These takes seconds to get on and off.

I think wovens could possibly be more comfy with a large toddler though.

Woven wraps take practice, and are faffy. But once you get comfortable with how they wrap, they are amazing!

As for other carriers, the only ones to avoid are ones with a very narrow bit of fabric between babies legs. The ideal is fabric that supports baby knee pit to knee pit.

The carriers that are quick and easy are ring slings, soft structured carriers and mei tais. Could you maybe get yourself along to a sling library, sling meet or speak to a sling consultant? That way you can try out all the above mentioned carriers and see what works for you. Not all carriers work for all body types you see!! With a sling library you can hire a carrier for 2 weeks for a tiny cost and really try it out to see if it works. Have a look at www.babywearing.co.uk or https://ukslinglibraries.wordpress.com/find-a-sling-library-near-you/ :)

Once you get the hang of wrapping it's not that bad.. it's not as super quick as a buckled carrier but I can toss LO up on my back in a quick ruck and we don't freeze to death anymore lol.

It sounds like you might like a soft structured carrier with buckles better.. def look into the Ergo, Manduca, Boba, Connecta etc. You can get the used off babywearing swaps (there is a big world wide one on facebook!) or from mamas at local babywearing swaps. Trying them out first is always a good as they all fit a little bit differently so it's best to see what you and your LO are comfortable in!
