Hi there girls :hi:,
my friend told me I had to get snowsuits for the baby even for the summer. I'm a bit confused about that piece of advice. Won't the baby get overheated if I put a snowsuit on her in the summer? When would you use a snowsuit and if it's really hot what would you use?
Thanks x

gosh no i wouldnt use a snow suit. both my girls were born in aug. one at beginnning and the other at the end. they were fine in a vest and sleepsuit with maybe a cardi if it was a chillier day. at times DD1 only wore her nappy as it was a hot summer. i would go for lots of layers you can strip and add to as you wish rather than a snow suit. snow suits ive only ever used in winter when walking any distance in the pushchair. ive not even used them in the car cos you will have the heating on and a blanket.

did she mean sleepers?

??? she meant those all in one suits that are warm and furry inside....like that:

there's no way u need snowsuits in summer!!! it is more dangerous 2 overheat a baby. use layers that u can take off/add depending on temperature.

Thanks, that's what i thought, but she was adamant I had to use them even though my baby is due end of May. I thought they were more for winter, hence the name. I hate it when people make me all paranoid about these things, because I'm a novice I never know how to respond.

im going to get a coat for baby and cardies to wear that way i can take layers off depending on how warm she feels. i wouldnt put a snowsiut on in the heat ive never seen a baby with one on in the summer.

Thanks, sounds sensible to me.

I've gotten one, as a gift off someone else, it's one her baby had, but thats just incase we choose to go out until like 9pm and we need something warm for the baby to come home in if it rains, bnut I highly doubt we'll ever use it.

dont worry you are right hun. as someone else said over heating can be more dangerous for little peeps than them being a bit chilly. in my experience its mostly hands and feet that get cold so i have put a pair of socks on under a sleepsuit if its been a chilly day. go with your comman sense, they are not as fragile as you think they might be. xxx

I have one, but my baby is being born in April and it can still be nippy then, especially at nighttime, and Imainly got it for coming home from hospital in. I can count times when I've worn a coat myself in summer because we are not known for our long hot, dry summers in this country!

Baby won't need one in proper summer as it's better to layer, and the general rule is that baby should wear one thin layer extra to what you are wearing yourself.
