just wondering if people have any plans as to how many clothes they are gonna buy baby, like how many of each size, baby grows, booties etc .. & how early on ..?

so far i have brought a babygrow & 2 dresses in first size & just got another dress in 0-3 months, i know babies grow quick so will be constantly out growing their clothes but with soo much stuff i wanna get and cuz baby is gonna be born in spring im now trying to work out what stuff to get in what sizes
& i dunno if im getting too much & too soon, as OH keeps saying we are getting clothes too early & by time baby is born they will be old but i cant help it, am soo excited & baby shopping is the only thing i wanna do right now lol

Lol!! Seriously they won't be old, if you keep them nicely away until baby is here. :)

I'm roughly planning on 30 or so body suits in 0-3 months, about 10 outfits in 0 - 3 months, 10 sleep suits in 0 -3 months...

The clothes will be old?! Do they have an expiration date then? :haha: We're getting as much as we can as soon as we can and just keeping it tucked up in the shopping bags and nearer the due date I'll get them all washed and hung up so they're nice and fresh and clean but there's no harm in buying bits and pieces along the way, spreads the cost out a bit too. I'm going to mainly be dressing KB in sleep style outfits for the first 3-6 months with a few nice outfits as well so have bought a fair amount of baby grows and sleepsuits in new born and 0-3 months so far with a couple of soft dungarees and tracksuit sets. Slowly adding bigger size of baby grows and asking friend and family for the bigger size of outfits if they're feeling the need to buy. As he'll be beorn in the winter we wanted to keep him warm but comfortable so my folks have also bought a great pramsuit, thick and furry for 0-3 months.

yeh as for the getting old thing, i agree with you both, was just my OH who said that as he likes to do everything last minute arghhhhh !! however am slowely everyweek or so persuading him to buy stuff
am thinking now maybe i should have brought the first few things i did in 0-3 instead of newborn as they will last alot longer :dohh: they are only a tiny bit smaller but they say on them for babies up to 9lbs, & i know usually they are born around 7 or 8lbs, how quickly do they actually grow? haha silly question but as a first time mum i have no idea

Have you still got them tagged up? If so, you can take them back and swap for the 0-3 months. I did the same as you and then realised all these nice clothes are only going get worn once IF were lucky so i took them back (without receipt) and exchanged to the 0-3 months. I only have a few things in newborn. Mostly 0-3 months. If he is tiny when born then i will go out and buy a couple of more things in newborn. It depends where you shop though really cos some newborn in some shops are like up to 11lb. x

I have got all newborn stuff, my last baby I had to get some tiny baby stuff as he was 6lb 12oz and everything was massive on him. I haven't found out if we are team blue or pink so will buy stuff when I know what we have :) I have just got sleepsuits, a coat for going home, vests and bibs clothes wise

i dont know when to buy any, a friend had a wooping 10lb 5OZ baby and was in 3 month clothes as a new born, what if i buy new born clothes and its a wooper?(although i hope not!)

yeh have still got all the tags on them, not sure if i can find the recipt though, i may just keep the 3 things i have in new born & start getting things 0-3 months, should be ok, lets just hope she is not a HUGE baby lol

The one thing i ended up with far far far too many of was vests! You know the little baby vests that go under the clothes, sleep suits etc. I bought plenty myself but it seemed every person i knew bought me a pack of vests too! Go with good quality but cheap ones because they dont get seen under the clothes and they grow out of them sooo fast as they get longer xx

i havent brought any vests or baby grows yet, ever since we found out she is a she i have been buying dresses lol only got 3 but i should probs ease up on the cute dress buying & get some other bits too

Go to tesco, lots of vests and sleepsuits nice and cheap and Asda have the bibs with waterproof stuff on the back x

Ohhh - i have bought loads of clothes (mainly white and cream as we tarted shoppign early on). When we found out he was a boy, we bought a few more things in Blue etc. Mainly started to get Newborn sizes, then realised they won;t last long so now have started buying 0-3 months. At least i know if he is small, we do have newborn clothes for him but with how fast they grow - he probs won;t need them for long xx

I have bought loads tho - lots of vests/babygrows/sleepsuits, a little all in one furry coat/scratch mittens/booties/hats - oh i'm gettin soo excited just thinking of it. i can't wait to go shopping again for some outfits but DF wants to wait til after xmas (boooo!!!!)

3 vests for £1.25, like someone said they go under clothes so aren't seen anyway x

Hehe i think i would probably be much the same as my 1st is a boy so i havent had that experience. Dont spend too much of your money on lovely little dresses though hun cos you will find that she spends 90% of her newborn phase in nothing but babygrows/sleep suits or rompers if it is warm. I would get the dresses in 0-3 months so that she gets her wear out of them :)

yeh im liking asda for the baby clothes  will be going back there soon !!

were buying the very basics for when bubs is here.
OHs nephew was a massive baby and didnt fit in anything they bought him, so just incase it happens to us, and the fact they grow so quickly we dont want to buy a lot :)

To be honest I am buying a lot of things from car boots as you can pick up brand new baby grows etc for as little as 20p there. I’ve been buying mostly 0 – 3 months but if I see something in newborn that I really, really like that is really inexpensive I have brought it just in case baby is on the small side. It is also more cost effective for us as we don’t know what we are having no doubt I will want to buy some gender specific stuff when bubs arrives so it makes sense for me to get the neutral bits at a cheaper price and then get some new stuff from the shops when we know what flavour our little one is.

I refuse to buy newborn stuff at full price in the shops because each shop is different, some places newborn stuff only goes up to 6 or 7lbs and I wouldn’t want to pay full price for them not to be able to wear it because they are born too big. This is why you can pick up so many things at NCT and car boot sales because people buy the wrong size and their babies don’t end up wearing a lot of it.

OH told me I was buying too much stuff (I don’t think I am) and I reminded him that I am spending a lot less than it would be buying it the shops. He picked up a snow suit in Mamas and Papas and it was £30 and I pointed out to him that I could buy 100 things at 30p each for the same price if I get it at the car boot.

I have bought some 0-3 and 3-6 even some 6-9 i wouldn't buy any newborn they probally wont fit into it for more then a week.
