baby coming early?......

ok so ive had my mum and OH mum telling me all week that they think ill go into labour early, im due 7th nov but they think 2nd week of october ill go

ive just laughed them off but spoke to a client of ours who is a midwife and told her that im 32 weeks and according to my notes 3/5 engaged

she laughed and agreed with mour mums, she said thats pretty engaged and while she doesnt think labour is iminent she thinks i will go early and labour shouldnt be too long as he pretty far down the birth canal already arrrrggghhhhh lol

You can never tell hun. I was 3/5's engaged last Friday and I looked it up and it has no bearing on when you go into labour as baby can pop out again! Baby will come when it is ready x x

Ha people shouldn't say stuff like this to you. Your mums want the baby early cos they want their grandchild! When you get to where they've predicted you'll start thinking about it all the time!!

Is this your first baby? With my first I was engaged for ages and she was 8 days late. At my 34 week appntmnt midwife said the head was very engaged but it means nothing. Xx

People said that to me hun too & I was bang on time!

I was engaged early & waddling round like he was going to fall out me! Plus I had a huge bump so people said I'd be early. I was fed up by my due date so try not to listen to it all!! Just enjoy being preg!xx

baby being engaged early doesn't actually mean anything. But thats not to say you're baby wont arrive early, just dont get your hopes up too much as otherwise you'll be fed up much sooner!

I've heard time and again that first babies are very rarely early babies - if anything they are late!

I'm just set on going over, so anything early is a pleasant suprise (but not too early!!).

Sorry hun but I was exactly the same and went 12 days over and was induced!! Hope you don't have to wait that long!!

My cousins baby (first) engaged at 32 weeks and stayed 3/5 until 11 days overdue when he was born. Her second baby has been 3/5 engaged since 34weeks and she is booked in for her secont on Thursday 14 days past her due date.

I dont think that babies engaging are a 100% sign that babies are coming early although its a good sign, my babies have never engaged and Ive never gone into labour naturally! x

i've decided that the best thing to do is assume that my baby is gonna go over... so anythin before is a happy bonus!!
i think we all want our babies to come early (obvs not too early) but 9 times out of 10 is doesn't happen... especially for us first timers

Everyone was predicting i would have my baby at about 33-35 weeks becuase all my family had early babies. And everytime i go into asda or supermarkets the people at cheakout always seem to comment oww your bump is low you will have that baby by the end of the week. But a few weeks later im still sat here.

Also my MW is away for my 37week appointment and s i said i would see her at 39weeks and she said if you aint had baby by then so she thinks ill be early to but still nothing. i dont think anyone can ever be sure hun. Soem people can be engaged for ages and still go 2 weeks over

yea hun i wudnt get ur hopes up.
my LO has been 3/5ths engaged since 31wks n my MIL was sayin LO wud be early but here I am with 1day to go til DD and nothing! Not even an inclination that LO is on his/her way.
I've had in my mind that LO will be overdue cuz I didnt wanna get ma hopes up for an early arrival, despite my MW enthusiastically making sure I had my bags packed early!
