Baby hates car seat! Help!

My baby boy has always had an aversion to his car seat, he's now 17 weeks and things are not getting any better! He will cry as soon as he's put in the seat (in the house or in the car). Sometimes he's absolutely fine but sometimes he screams! So bad we have to stop cause he gets into hysterics I get so upset which I'm sure doesn't help!

It doesn't seem to make any difference if he's fed, slept etc time of day, although evenings can be much worse but we have to go out!

I'm wondering if once he can have a forward facing seat he'll be better as he's not very good in his pram either but prefers to be facing out.

He loves his carrier which has been a godsend!

We have alsorts of toys etc to put on his seat to entertain him and I try singing to him too.

Anyone had this too? X

ive got the same and cant wait to FF either!
i know most on here will now give you a papragraph on why not to. but ive made up my mind that i know hes crying because he cant see us. he has loads of toys aswell and we try to talk to him but he wont quieten down till ive jumped into the back while OHs driving, i know thats not safe but its too much of a distraction when hes crying

My LO is the same! She screams and screams hysterically, its heartbreaking. Ive done a few journeys with me sitting in the back if someone else is available to drive and shes totally different if im next to her so hoping a FF carseat will help one day.
Can the seat go in the front with u? if u havent got an airbag of course? Then at least he can see you xx

Yes - it got better once he could forward face. What helped was the tinylove car seat mobile, a terry cover on the car seat (he didn't like the fabric, so we bought the maxi cosi summer cover, which really did help) and tactile toys for him to play with. But once he could FF he was completely fine the whole time. Sigh.

try a baby mirror on the back seat so he can see u driving n talking Arianna loves it she stares at me the whole time--cause i dont think there suppose to be FF till a year old here in US they now changed it till 2 yrs as its safer ever in a accident

This is normal, a lot of babies hate the car seat, and it generally improves as they age. I personally let mine scream & cry if he doesn't like it and I need to drive.

Me too, it's a battle to get him in. But, mine is already too big for his car seat. The instructions say up to 13kg and he is way of that but he looks really cramped in it. Thing cost me a small fortune, and dread having to fork out for another, maybe yours feels a bit cramped too?

Soo glad its not just me! He will be OK for 5 minutes then screams the whole journey, doesnt help OH keeps reminding me how much his little girl loved the car

I bought a britax maxi plus as it would have allowed him to see out the window and possibly distract him but the feckin thing doesnt fit!
Im trying a mirror and counting the days till we can FF

So glad I'm not alone! I do have him in the front! (airbag can be turned off) and I think he is a bit better than being in the back (swapped cars with DH so I can have him in front. Funnily enough he was pretty good yesterday got a long drive today so fingers crossed he sleeps for it!!! X

Yep Jack hates his. Only a few more oz to go before he can FF!!
