It's her first time. I'm super nervous. How did you and your baby handle shots?

I wasn't prepared for it all so my advice would be that unfortunately she will cry but just remember its all for her own good. afterwards she won't remember a thing but might be sleepy or grizzly and may go off her food a litlle for a day or so :hugs:

I was so nervous I couldn't concentrate on the nurses at all, they were chatting away and I was in bits!!! LO cried for a few seconds but was fine after we had a cuddle, it honestly seemed to hurt me more watching it!! He was fine after and went straight to sleep, had a bit of a temperature that night which I was expecting and had been given medicine for by the GP

My little man just had his first injections today, made me cry..... He cried for little but gave him loads of cuddles after and a feed and he was fine, but now its a few hours later, he's really upset and got a bit of a temp..... Think its all normal just wondering how its gonna b for us tonight...... I feel so sad for him cause they just cant do anything to make themselves feel better so we just having loads of snuggles and he's trying to sleep, hope yours went ok? XxxX

oh gosh, she cried like she never cried before! sleeping now, I'm watching her temp etc.

she woke up and hasn't stopped screaming for an hour. normal?

What's her temp like hun? The GP and nurse advised baby paracetamol if my LO was more unsettled or just not himself, is that out of the ordinary for your baby?

hey my lil boy has been exactly the same, i gave him some calpol which calmed him down and managed to get him bac to sleep, i woke him for a feed at 9 b4 i put him in his bed but it was only a short feed compared to normal cause he kept getting upset :-( he's bac sleeping now and im wondering whether i should set my alarm for around 3am to give him a feed cause its wen he normally feeds? Also he does feel quite warm to touch, he's got 2 covers on cause its really cold at the mo but dunno whether to unwrap him a bit altho i dont want him getting cold??.... Ne ideas?? Hows your lil one now? xx

I ended up calling the doctor as she was crying non stop for two hours. Doctor told me to give her some tylenol (I believe it's the same as paracetamol in the UK?) It worked, she calmed down in about 30 minutes but she does have a low grade fever, right now it's 99.2F. I'm watching it. She's obviously not 100% but at least the heartbreaking screaming is over for the moment. Doctor said to try and wait 6 hours till the next dose, so here's hoping...
bbaabbyy - he may be nauseous too. poor thing. I would make sure his temp isn't too high but other than that, just let him sleep, that's my thought, but I am no expert!!!

When Layla got her shots she screamed for what seemed like forever. LOL That night she even ran like a fever, that the doctor told me to give her Tylenol for. She wasn't her usual self for about 3 days after getting the shots.

when my lo had her shots I was nervous for her. I've never seen her face turn so red or heard her cry like she did but it was only for a minute. I was told to give lo a warm bath after to seize sickness. I figured it was a old wives tale but when I asked the nurse, she agreed. I did give lo a warm bath & she was ok. It's worth a try. Good luck :)
