:saywhat:

I was watching a programme last night about baby models and this baby (5 months old) got the casting to be on the front cover of a parenting magazine. He was a lovely looking baby and the original photo was lovely. They then airbrushed the photo - they took away the blemishes from his skin, the saliva from his mouth and chin, the rolls of fat from his neck and chin and made his eyes lighter.

Why would you want to do this to a baby photo, its bad enough that they do this to models and celebrities in magazines :nope::nope:

I dont think slight airbrushing is that bad tbh  Aslong as they dont make a child skinnier or something then i see nothing wrong with getting rid of salvia on their chin lol

OMW thats shocking - especially airbrushing his baby rolls thats what being a baby is all about x
When my sister took some special pics of Finley at the weekend the most she did was edit out the bruise on his head

I agree with editing out saliva on the chin or something like that, but not the little podgy rolls, that's a bit too far xx

my little boy does baby modelling and he had a job for a winter catalogue and had a big scratch on his face and the just airbrush it out x

I can understand them airbrushing out the scratch but to take out the rolls of fat? They also took out his blemishes to make his skin totally smooth and lightened his eyes and skin. Thats not right.

when we get photos of River done they edited some of her dribble away.

dont really see the problem with it, they are just trying to sell a product

i can understand evening the skin out and getting rid of drool but its crazy to get rid of baby fat.
when i did hair modeling i was never touched up but my oh did some the other week and they pinned his ear back as it looked weird on the picture lol

I dont see the problem with it withing moderation, its part of the fashion world its what happens.
With most of Brians photos I edit out dribble and if he has scratched himself, maybe its the photographer in me dealing where everything has to look perfect :)
I do disagree with editing a baby photo to make them look skinnier though that is a bit far and its those rolls that make them cute.
I think tweaking the eye colour is also all part and parcel to it, you have to make the eyes stand out in photos but I dont like the idea of tweaking skin colour for some reason.
id never change the eye colour in personal photos though as you want to have a real photo of your baby but advertising is a whole different world.

perfection sells , i dont see anything wrong with it tbh!

Babies are beautiful as they are they don't need airbrushing :cloud9: I can sort of understand them editing out a scratch but not their fat rolls!

I just thought when i watched it that babys are all naturally beautiful and don't need changing or edited. If i was buying a parenting or pregnancy magazine I would want to see a natural baby with folds of fat, dribbles and everything. Thats what makes a baby cute.

It's a sad thing, but that's life! Whatever they are selling they want the 'perfect' looking baby or child or adult to model it, it's proven that if good looking people model something it is more likely to sell. So i don't really see much wrong with it, as at the end of the day they are just trying to sell!

Personally if i saw a baby with fat rolls and dribble down his face i'd think he was adorable! But unfortunatly not everyone has that view :-(

I suppose it just shows you that no one is perfect even those picked to model because even their features are changed.

P.S. Bloodbinds your LO is your double!

It is what id expect to see in a baby magazine but not realy in a catalouge, dribble scratches and sadly even the fat rolls do not sell branded label baby tops

saliva on his chin etc i can understand but not removing any physical appearances suhc as the rolls etc :(

thats just wrong :( :nope:
x

i love natural baby photos.. dribbles and all. Makes them all the more cuter in my eyes :flower:
