Baby monitor with app?

I'm investigating baby monitors - because the one we had for our son is absolutely dead - and I'm interested in the ones where you can check in with your phone, too. My issue is that the ones I can find with the app don't seem to include a parent unit, and I definitely want that!

Anyone decided on their baby monitor yet? Any recommendations?

(I know some people have security concerns about app monitors, but I'm personally satisfied that it's safe enough. I'm not looking for dire warnings...)

We use the Nest Cams for our twins. Although it doesn't have a parent unit, we bought a cheap one that just has sound. I like to be able to hear when they are awake through the cheap monitor, and then I can check on my phone to see if they are getting into trouble. We also figured once we are done using it as a baby monitor, we can use it as a security monitor in the house. Or just to check in on the pets when we aren't at home!
