Hehe this may sound like a stupid question to you but do you really need baby monitors.

I live in a upstairs flat so everything is on the one level. Our bedroom is right next to the living room. Would you still recommend gettig a baby monitor or not?

Thankx x

We have a bungalow and havent ever really needed them! I always hear DD! x

I don't think they're neccersary, we got one but it was like the cheapest kind and it's only really in case we sit outside in the garden when he's sleeping next summer.

thanks ladies. i thought that. I also have my dog who im sure if we watch him will hear bubs stirring too. But didnt really think it was necessary x

I think they are necessary but it does come down to personal preference/opinion. We have the angelcare monitor with the sensor mat which saved Poppy's life when she had a fit and stopped breathing, we didn't notice even though she was asleep in our room next to our bed. This obviously won't happen to everyone but it scared the life out of me and i couldn't bear the thought of her being in another room with no monitor xx

I had the Angelcare Movement Monitor that sensed when the baby either rolled off the pad or stopped breathing....I will be buying a new one when my wee trouble maker arrives - Its peace of mind as I am a major paranoid freak when it comes to babies sleeping, the only downside I found with the old version is that the alarm would only sound after 20 seconds of non movement which I think is a long time if ur baby did stop breathing

The other thing I hated was my sons moved off the pad it sounded the alarm which made me scream with horror thinking the worst only to find that they had rolled over

BUT all things considered its a priceless piece of kit that I couldnt live without but I am the type of person who thinks "prevention is better than cure"

I will be going for the Angelcare Movement with Sensor pad also. This is my personal choice and even OH cant understand the reasoning. A family member died of SIDS at 10 weeks old and has always frightened the life out of me since and i would rather take precaution rather than having that risk. It will hopefully also give a peace of mind.

We're getting one as I want to be able to hear LO in the bedroom when he's sleeping during the day as I can't leave the door open due to cat and a dog. It won't be such a big deal at night as he'll be in a moses basket next to us but we don't have the room for a cot in our bedroom so likely he's going to have to go into his own room from about 3/4 months. I'd rather he stay with us until 6 months but just physically don't have the space so would like to know I can hear him at the least.

Personally I'm not getting one. My sister said its the best idea cus all you is listen to them all night haha. You check your baby often enough anyway and remember there was a time when they didn't exist. It's a matter of choice sweet; I'm not though xxx

I will be getting one, But i will always be near dear daughter to!

Well like I said its peace of mind......it only takes a minute for disaster to strike....and I would rather be safe than sorry as its the one thing I couldnt bear to happen...well to any of my kids...it is down to choice tho

I haven't discussed a baby monitor with oh yet, but I don't know we will be getting on for now as LO will be right next to us in the bedroom for the time being, but I don't know maybe I will ask oh about this, good question.. :) XO
