Baby Not Feeding Well Help!

Hi Ladies

My little boy is 15 weeks tomorrow, and for the last 3 days he hasnt been feeding well at all, he normally has about 30oz in a day but at the minute he is having about 20oz or less and i think he is loosing weight because i have to pull his nappy tapes nearly overlapping with each other. When i give him his bottle he will feed for about 2oz then starts crying and pushing it away not interested, i then have to fight to get him to have any more which i sometimes can get another 1 or 2 out of him. This is so unlike my little boy cos he has already fed really well. I have checked his mouth and cant see any signs of thrush. I have also checked his gums but they are really soft so i dont think he is teething. Any advise or help would be brilliant thank you x

My lo does this all the time, he'll go from drinking beautifully to fussing and not wanting so much. Sometimes its due to illness or teething, but other times I don't know why! I tend to just make up little bottles (2-3oz) and then feed more regularly, by doing this I can usually get a more normal amount in to him over the day, although I tend not to worry so much now as he eats 3 meals a day too!

Apart from trying the smaller, more frequent feeds you could try to move up a teat size. Your lo might be getting frustrated at the flow being too slow... Even if these 2 things don't help, try not to panic, go with your lo's needs and I'm sure it'll pick up again soon.

I am also having the same problem, my son was feeding 7-8 oz bottles (he's12 wks) and then suddenly last weekend he started screaming and refusing his bottle I cud see that he was hungry but he couldnt drink he went red in the face and frantic when the milk went in. I have now tried getting him into a semi sleepy state which helps the situaltion.

I took him to the health visitor who basicly just told me to persevere. My son is on infant gaviscon for his reflux but now i think that he has acid reflux. I am seeing my GP tomorow as this really distresses me to think he isnt getting all the nutrients he needs/is used to. I was thinking that maybe the symptoms sound like silent reflux? maybe worth a google. hope your lo starts to feel normal self again soon x

I am having the exact same problem with my son he's 14 weeks old and was happily taking 5 7oz bottles a day. Now he takes between 4-5ozs and begins to scream and go red in the face like he's in pain. He gets up plenty of wind, dont think he's teething and isn't constipated

just thought id update with my outcome. GP has told me he thinks its a wind problem and had prescribed colief as he is putting it down to wind fingers crossed this works x
