for the past couple of days before bathtime my daughter has a kick on her mat to let air at her bum, she lies fine for so long then starts to cry which is fine coz when she gets in the bath she loves it, splashing arnd (she's 5months)

when she comes out the bath i wrap her up in her towel and she screams bloody murder. the only way to describe it is that she looks terrified and screams with breaks of shuddering in the cries. like, when u get soo upset u cant breathe properly when u cry...like that.

once she gets her vest and sleepsuit on she is fine when sitting up (crying throughtout getting dressed tho...)

can any1 tell me if there wee one did this and what it possibly could be, thanks!

Edward does this. He just doesn't like being naked after his bath because he gets cold i think. As you said, he's fine when he's dressed again. xx

but it only just happened. she usually always fine thats what i dnt understand

babies change so much. where once it might not have bothered her, it seems to bother her now. sometimes my LO is fine in transition from bath to towel, sometimes she IS NOT FINE and lets us know accordingly. the best thing to do in the situation is comfort her. let her know you are there and that soon she'll be nice and warm in her clothes.

My LO screams like this when getting out the bath most of the time. It's horrible! When she first started doing it I thought I'd hurt her by accident or she had something spiking in her leg or something it was such a distressed cry!

Like your LO she absolutely LOVES it in the bath and grins and splashes the whole time.. it's just the getting out!

It happened each time.. so we tried baths at different times to make sure she wasn't too hungry, too full, too tired, too hot, too cold... but not much seems to make a difference. :nope:

Now we just top and tail her each day and wash hands and feet with a flannel. We are doing a bath about once a week and just grinning and bearing it!

BUT 2 nights ago, we braced ourselves for bathtime and it went ok!! :happydance: When we got her out, my OH and I were just full of praise, songs, cuddles, quick dressing, funny noises!! Anything to keep her focussed.. and I think it worked cause she had no time to think about crying!!

It may not happen again, but hopefully will get better over time. Things change so quickly in them don't they!?

Hopefully it's just a one-off for you! x

does she have dry skin????
my lo screamed after bath too and after adding oilytum bath oil to bath and rubbing with moisturiser straight after she is fine. i think as her skin was dry/sore it was uncomfy after bath time. i also dry and gt dresed asap too as she doesnt like being in towel. hope these help

H screams blue murder. Scared me at first - like someone else said, I thought I'd hurt her, or carried her too tightly in the towel or something but I think it's just the being cold. I remember when I was little I used to cry when mum got me out of the bath cos it was cold (millions of years ago when I was little!!).

We found that Evie used to do this after a bath. At first we thought it was cos she was cold so we'd wrap her up tight in her towel till she warmed up and dried off a little. But it turns out she HATES being wrapped! When we swaddle her, it has to be when she's asleep lol otherwise she screams blue murder :haha: and it's the same when wrapping her up after a bath! Now I just lay her on the towel and drape another one over her front while I dry her off. I massage her legs and her body at the same time and it really keeps her calm :)

My daughter has been doing this very recently too & at first I thought I hurt her. First time she was actually still in the bath & we had barely started & 2nd time was done with bath on the floor getting a quick rubdown with lotion after already dry. She wasnt swaddled up & wasnt cold (I turn the heat way up & shut the bathroom door so its so nice & warm when she's bathing) I thought it might have been her being overstimulated cause she tends to have a problem with that. The only thing that I could do at that point was finish getting her dressed, swaddle her, bring her to the nursery with lights off & she then calmed down & fell asleep.

Everyone has such different ideas- if only our babies could just tell us what was wrong! Makes me wonder now what is really going on when she does this.

My little boy does the same because he's hungry, being in the bath uses up his energy plus its just before his bedtime feed so I give him a quick dry, put on his nappy, wrap him up and then feed him.

I'd put it down to being cold esp when the LO is shuddering whilst crying. My LO is fine most of the time after having a bath and other times he cries the minute his little bum is lifted out of the water. I was terrified at first too and couldn't figure out what had happened but as soon as he was beside the fire getting dressed he was his normal cheery self again :) They are fussy little creatures sometimes lol.

I think Z does this purely because she objects to being taken out of a nice warm fun bath :)
