Baby Shower?

Who is/has had a baby shower? and what's it all about? My MIL thinks i should have one and said she'd plan it but tbh i have no idea what one is i thought it was more of an American thing, but my OH is American and i think his Mom used to go to them before they moved over here, any way, rambling a little sorry but what do you girlies think? Should i have one or not? because i'm clueless! xxx

I think it's actually a great idea!

My OH's mom is also planning one for me. But I'm from the US, so maybe it's different for my situation.

But basically, from the ones I've been to, it's where you invite friends and family, and they will bring you gifts for your baby. There's also ways to make it really fun, by having games and prizes and stuff! Like for example - My OH's mom want to do a game, where everyone cuts a piece of string to go around my belly by guessing how big I am, and who ever is closest to getting it right gets a prize or first slice of cake and etc.

If I were you I would, they're really fun and helpful

I had one. It was really nice. We just had family and a few friends, had a quiet dinner and did presents.
It was a lot of fun.

I had one with my first pregnancy. It was tons of fun, we rented a room in a club house and had a table set up with buffet snacks like fruit bowls, chips, dip, sandwiches, etc. We played games, did presents, had cake, and socialized. There were probably about 20-25 people there.

My baby shower for this baby is in 2 weeks, but its going to be a lot smaller. All my friends have moved away to college so i don't really have many people to invite. It will be nice though, my family, alan's family, and a couple close friends. Looking forward to it!

I had two My mom threw me one, and my MIL threw me one. They are exactly what samisshort described. There are some really fun games you can play, too! We had a game where everyone had to fill a bottle up with a drink & whoever chugged theirs the fastest won! It was really entertaining!

They are a great help & you get TONS of stuff. We haven't had to buy Brenna a single article of clothing (although we have ) or buy baby shampoos/lotions yet because we're still using the ones that were bought at the baby shower! They are soooo helpful! I reccommend having one, but it is up to you

We had an awesome time at my baby shower. I was 34 weeks and it was great, I felt awesome and just had a great time with my family and friends. I had it at a friends house, we catered food and played loads of games!

Mine was a lot of fun! we had it in October of last year so it didn't conflict with any Holiday stuff. I just had some family and friends and had a small dinner. It was really nice.
