I am looking to buy a sling for lumpy this time, and would really like some suggestions.

I think I would only be wearing for first few months, so I need one for new born.
Can u suggest to me please.

Thanks.

I've tried them all and for a newborn, the best one for me was the moby wrap. easy to put on, snug, the baby loved it.

I also love wraps for newborns. My daughter has been living in a sleepy wrap (now called Boba wrap) for over two months now! I wear her at least 5-6h/day.

When they get bigger I switch to a soft structured carrier.

The only issue with a stretchy is they might be a bit warm in the Summer. Depends on you and your baby. I've got a Bali Breeze wrap, which is a gauze woven. I think it will be slightly trickier than a stretchy. Options if you don't fancy wrapping are a ring sling - great for popping baby in and out of easily, and the Close Carrier (called Caboo now I think) which is like a stretchy, but with some structure.

If you think you may decide on wearing a bit longer, the Ergo is a soft structured carrier, which you can get a newborn insert for.

Brilliant, thanks ladies.
So with say, the Moby, how long are they in that for?

Victoria slinglady does a fab summer stretchy sling which is thinner than a normal stretchy

I am comfy with wraps for about 6 months (but you can wear them longer than that) - after that I just like the convenience and stability of a Soft Structured. Plus you can wear them on your back. They start to get too heavy for me in a wrap with stretch - though I am going to try a woven wrap this time around as an additional option. You can never have too many carriers! :haha:

I have been indefinitely lent a moby, a close parent and a didymos woven wrap for no2 :)

The moby seems easiest to use, I have had Ruby's soft toys in it to practice! The lady I borrowed them off said stretchy wraps are good for about 3-4 months ish. After that point we will move to using the soft structured carrier we already have, or invest in a woven wrap if we find that more comfy.

Mobys are great. Mei tai or ergo past 6 months if you want to keep wearing.

Yes the weight limit they claim for stretchy wraps was a bit much for me Dylan moved into a soft structured carrier about 4 months - though in emergencies we could still use it just needed retying a lot as it sagged when he got heavy x

Agree with all!

Brilliant, thanks everyone. Think we will be oing with a moby then, love the look of themand hubby is open to the idea too!
They look pretty easy to use too.
Would u recommend brand new or would pre loved be ok?

I'd definitely go with preloved. Out of my collection of carriers, I've only bought one new!

We used a mix of the Baby Bjorn front carrier and a Calin Bleu wrap (similar to a moby) when LO was really little. And then when he got old we changed to an ergo, which at 28 months old, we still use :o)

It is very much dependent ont heir weight for when the Moby isn't suitable. We used the moby up until 10 months and then switched to a custom Mei Tai, however given LO is so tiny I can still happily front carry them even when walking for miles (last time she was worn was whenI walked 3 miles from a beach to holiday home as she needed a sleep we'd lost her dummy so the only place she would sleep would be if worn)

I think they were 8-9kg when we stopped using the moby

I'd go with a stretchy, OR if you are planning on wearing into toddlerhood, then get an ergo, you can get a newborn insert, although I've not used the insert as only bought my ergo when LO was 11 months...BUT I would highly recommend the ergo! You could always pop over to Natural Parenting section, that's what it's for lol! :hugs:

Another vote for the Close (now Caboo) carrier. Absolutely loved it, used it from very early on until about 8 months old.
