Baby's hands are always clenched - 9 weeks?

My baby is 9 weeks old (will be 10 weeks in 2 days) and she still always has her hands clenched in little fists. She does open them, but for the most part she likes to have them tightly clenched with her little thumbs inside her fists. She was born 3 weeks early, so maybe she is a little delayed? Anyone else 9 week old still have clenched fists most of the time?

My two are nearly 11 weeks and haven't completely stopped with hand clenching.

Yes its normal, they do start doing it less and less as they learn to control their arms/hands!

I think it is normal. My son has began to unclench them and he is about 11 weeks old. I smelled them once by accident (I think I was playfully chewing on his hand), and it stunk! I make sure to clean them thoroughly now.

Mine does it as well, he is 8 weeks.

Mine holds his hands in fists pretty much all the time and he's 7 months! I think it's just something to do, have you ever really thought about your hands? When you do you suddenly can't remember what to do with them when you aren't doing anything.

its normal as long as they have opened them i dont see there is a problem x

Yep, romans are too. We call them fists of fury when he flaps his arms about Annoying cos his hands are always all dirty

Yeah mine too, I#d say they are clenched 90% of the time. I was sat feeding her the other day and wondering what the smell was (she gets a bath most nights and is top and tailed the rest of the time) and realised that she was collecting fluff and stuff in her hands and they smelt really cheesy! I clean them regularly with a baby wipe as well now xxx
