Babys weight from bump measurments!?

Hey Ladies

I had my 34 week midwife appointment yesterday and from her measuring my belly and plotting it on the lines in my green book, baby is around 2100 grams which I make about 4.6lbs.

Just wondering what sort of weights everyone else was getting? x

at my 36 weeks appointment she plotted 3200g which is which was 7lb that cant be right surely Xx

I had my scan at 33 + 5 and they estimated my baby at 4lbs 3oz, I'm only 4'11 tho

31 week appointment my baby weighs about 4lb they are all different though x

30+3 was measured at 3lbs 5oz by scan.

How an earth can they estimate weight from bump measurement

At my 34wk+1 scan our baby weighs 5 lbs 7oz (2.6kg).

At an expected growth rate now of 1/2 pound a week, I'm looking at approx. 8.7 lbs at 40wks.

At a 34 week scan babs was an estimated 6lb 3oz and i was measuring 3 weeks ahead but since little lady engaged i measure correctly at almost 39 weeks

I have never been given a weight estimate

I don't believe that they can really give any idea of weight from the bump measurement - it all depends on what position baby is in, how much fluid there is etc. I'd be surprised if it was accurate! Even the scans can be out by a pound or two easily!

my MW doesn't plot measurements on anything or get weight from it but at my 37 week scan baby was estimated to be exactly 7lbs! x

the only way they will tell me estimated weight is from growth ultrasounds. last one was just after 30wks and he weighed 4lbs 9ozs! another growth scan at 36wks!

I've been measuring a bit small all along (2-3 weeks behind), but when I went for an ultrasound at 34 weeks, my boy was measuring right on the 50th percentile. I keep looking at those charts, but I have to remind myself that everyone is different.

All I can go by at the moment is the sites that tell you about baby's development and that at 29 weeks baby is (on average) almost 3 lbs. I really have no idea how rapidly they can put on weight beyond 30 weeks but I do know it can happen very quickly after then, especially looking at bump pics and how much bigger they get in the final few weeks!!!!

My doc measured my fundal height last week and it was at 28 but he didn't mention weight then.

Sorry, not got a clue really lol! I wasn't given an estimate five years ago, maybe they will do it for me this time ........ I do have a scan at 32 weeks so I think I will ask then. x

It's all guestimates, even the scans. They can take measurements during a scan but that will not neccessarily give the correct weight.

At my 34 week growth scan she was 4lb 5oz, 36 weeks 5lb 8oz, 38 weeks 6lb 5oz.
On my customised growth chart this falls beneath the bottom line although my fundal height measurements are above the line so it isn't very accurate really.
