Hello again Ladies!

Has anyone out there done back-2-back IUI's? The last round officially ended 2 days ago with my negative BETA at the RE's.

They tell me they usually don't like to do back-2-back IUI's because there may possibly be "left over" cysts from this past months treatment. I was sent away from the office being told to call them when my period started (delayed due to Progesterone supplementation) and if I fall within the right time period, they will start me with a day 3 scan to look for cysts and if none, I will start injectibles again possibly Wednesday.

This past cycle I responded with 4 mature follies and DH's sample was apparently "very good". The doctor tells me not to get discouraged with a failed first IUI, that generally the 2nd is more successful?!?

Has anyone out there ever done back-2-back IUI's? I would love some feeback on any past experiences anyone has had with multiple IUI's. I have found a lot of forums on IVF, but not too many on IUI's and thought we could start our own club here!!! :hugs:

Thank you Ladies!!! :flower:

I'm on my first IUI, but am going on vacation and my doctor said to fill my Clomid script and take it with me, just in case it doesn't "take." So, it sounds like I'll be doing back to back, maybe. Not the answer you were looking for, I know! But thought I'd share anyway. :flower: Lots of dust to you!!

I will be doing my second IUI in the next 10 days, or less. I'm not on injection medication, but I am on femara. I have been on femara for 5 months, and I just did my ultrasound friday and no cysts at all. Talk about odds huh! So I have a 32 day cycle, and we've been chasing my O. 3 months ago, it was day 9 based on the OPK. Doctor said no way was it day 9 with a 32 day cycle, should be day 16. So The next two months, sure enough day 16, with our first IUI last month on day 16. This month, they did the follie scan and said they thought the follie on my left side was much larger than it should be for day 5. What they wouldn't tell me was if I was going to O sooner than day 16, or around day 9, nothing. They just said my OBGYN would view it and call me on Tuesday to let me know. Wouldn't you know, Tuesday is day 9 so if we are too late I'm going to be a bit mad!!

hey wendy! I'm having my treatment on the NHS and am doing IUI with injectables at the moment. They make me have a rest cycle between IUIs to allow the body to recover from the meds and to avoid the possibility of cysts. I guess though if you are happy to carry on and they rule out the potential for cysts at the start that there's no reason not to plough on! Good luck, hope this cycle is the one for you!

Thanks for the input ladies!!! Much appreciated! Going for my day 3 scan Tuesday morning. Hopefully no cysts and my estrogen levels are suppressed enough to begin again!

However, if they do make me wait another month, I won't be too upset. Might be a good idea to give the ovaries a rest for a month!

LOADS OF DUST TO ALL OF YOU!!!

That sounds like a good plan! Please do fill me in on how it goes. This is my first IUI so nervous and would love to hear other's experiences.

I know what you mean about rest...I'm only doing Clomid this month and already feel my ovaries need a rest. :haha:

Don't be nervous about IUI. It's not nearly as bad as an annual exam. I took husband with me for my first thinking it would be horrible, but it was simple. Took less than 2 minutes, and then I just laid around for 10 minutes. Whole process was quick and easy, so don't be nervous at all!

Update!

My day 3 scan was great! No leftover cysts and my Estradiol levels were exactly where they wanted them. Going in again tomorrow morning for the CD6 scan to check the progress. They have started me at a higher dose this month so hopefully even better than last month!

Babybumpage - how is it going? Where are you now in the IUI process now?

MyTurnYet - how about you? Where are you now in the process?

Love to hear back from you both to see how it's going!

Wendy

Wendy, husband and I have done 5 months of femara now, we did our first IUI last month with no luck. This month was our first month with scans. We did a day 5 follie scan and my left side had one follie that was 16. Then on day 9 I got a positive OPK, went to the Dr. and the follie was still there (Dr has no clue why the OPK is lying to me). So we have another scan on day 12 (tomorrow morning, 8:30am) to see where they are, and hopefully trigger. Then we go in for another IUI on Saturday morning. So we should know more tomorrow. Tomorrow will also be my first trigger, and I'm horrible with needles so that should be interesting. Hopefully we get somewhere with more info tomorrow.

Babybumpage, if I'm reading right, I think our IUIs may fall on the same day. I had a day 11 scan this morning and the dr. just called and said all looks good to trigger tonight. I actually have 4 large follicles, with 2 that "look they're ready to go." I trigger tonight, and then go in for the first IUI tomorrow morning (Sunday), and then another one on Monday.

Thanks for the encouragement and advice about it not being that bad! For some reason, it made me feel a little better this morning seeing all the other couples in the waiting room. Like, there are so many of us going through this (not just me), you know? :hugs:

Wendy, so happy to hear your scan went well!!! :happydance: Keep us posted on the next one!

Hi Ladies,

I just wanted to wish you all luck. Im currently waiting for my appointment through before starting IUI so am really interested in reading your experiences.

Love and babydust xxx

we are really close, I triggered Friday and did one IUI this morning, but I'm doing another IUI tomorrow morning. I'm not very hopeful of this mornings IUI, husband's count was only 3.25 million >< I had to transport the sample 45 minutes away so I'm thinking that had something to do with it. But the OBGYN said it only takes one and she's seen a + with much less, so we're going to hold onto hope that it works! I had a very sensitive cervix today for some reason, so I had a really sharp pain when she went through the cervix, but other than that, mine was painless. I'm taking husband with me tomorrow so we're hoping for a much better count tomorrow.

Good luck babybumpage!

I'll be saying a little prayer for you! It only takes "1" !!!!

Keep us posted.

FLUFFYSTAR: This is my second IUI with injectibles....it's not tht bad at all! If you want any info just let me know! Good luck!

Wendy

Babybumpage, I will be praying for you, too!

Had my first IUI today and all went well!! DH had 50 million w/ 81% "swimming." I know the 50 million is good, but not sure about 81%? Overall, it was not too bad. Just felt like a pap smear and I was surprised how quickly it went. One more tomorrow and then the big waiting begins!

Well, it went ok. Numbers went up to 4.5 million motile today, 9 million total. 55% motility. So everything is looking a little better. It was major pain this time tho, even yesterday was painful. I guess my cervix is extremely tender. I came home yesterday and my abdomen felt hard as a rock. I asked the doctor today and she said it could be ovulation pain, but I think it was something different. Not sure what, just didn't feel like any O pain I've ever had.

Wee- thanks! Hopefully everything went ok >< not sure tho, numbers are still really low; ;

Myturn- those numbers are amazing. What we wouldn't give to have 50 million....81% motility is fabulous, normal is considered 40%!!! I think you should be very hopeful! I'm fx'd for you!!

Oh, thank you babybumpage!! I wasn't sure what was considered to be good or normal. Had 2nd IUI today, but DH's counts were lower than yesterday - 18 million this time. Are you going to BD tonight for some extra reassurance? I'm going to try to, but not feeling that great at the moment. My stomach is very, very crampy. Is that what you're feeling, too?

My dr. said it could be O pain, but could also be the :spermy: She just laughed and said "there's definitely something going on in there." :haha: The dr. who does the IUI is not my regular dr., but she's hysterical. She's from China (I think) and has a very thick accent and is always cracking jokes. She makes me feel really relaxed, which is great!

Weewendy, where are you at in your cycle?

I posted a thread on the long term TTC that is the new "normal" for SA. Some of the ladies are kind shrugging it off, but the more I'm learning, the more it is showing to be extremely accurate! I too feel crampy after each one (we've now had 3 IUI's) and I normally BD after, but yesterday we were out and about and couldn't get home, and when we did get home, husband is feeling deathly awful (he actually fell asleep and forgot to set an alarm and got called by work 20 minutes after he was supposed to be there, that's how awful he felt; ;) But the pain is most like O pain, and should go away. You will have a bit of cramps from the IUI itself but those should go away in 24-36 hours I would think (at least they do for me). Hope this helps!!

Thanks for the info! All cramps have gone away now...just waiting, waiting, waiting...luckily will be on vacation next week so will try not to think too much about it.

Oh, I have to find that post about the new normal! I haven't seen it.

Thank you, Fluffystar. Love your name and avatar, by the way. :flower:
