For the last week I've been on Keflex and Bactrim for cellulitis and one of the side effects listed on BOTH is the possibility of a yeast infection. Nice huh? Needless to say I have SOMETHING going on down there.

There's no gross discharge, but there is itching and there is the smell of chlorine that I normally get after unprotected sex with DH. Problem? We haven't been having unprotected sex. In fact, we haven't had sex at all in awhile due to business trips (which sucks, but rules that out completely!)

The last thing I want to do is take MORE antibiotics even if they're different anti-biotics. I'm a super clean person and this is absolutely freaking me out. The chlorine smell seems more indicative of a case of BV according to some websites, others say fishy smell which I definitely don't have. But it doesn't smell like bread like the websites say for yeast infections. What the HELL am I supposed to do?

Any home remedies?

Sorry for sharing... But I have no one else to talk to about it :(

I wonder if you can take probiotics? In our country you get a special probiotic for ladies who struggle with yeast infections. Can you find out about that. I take then when I feel the slightest itch coming, esp before my aunt flow is coming! Good luck!

I have some acidophilus tabs that I've been trying to take. They seem to be keeping everything at bay so I guess that means it's probably a yeast infection? I HATE antibiotics. They should do more then just put that side effect in fine print. maybe give you a warning and tell you to be on call with monistat or something in hand.

Nurse here to help u lol for legal reasons I'm only giving advice n I'm not a GP, if symptoms last more than 2 weeks please seek proper medical advice hahah

Right hmm yea abx (antibiotics) have a little thing about causing more problems sometimes haha what other symptoms are you having ...I've had both BV and thrush yea
venally you'll notice a more potent smell down there or more vaginal discharge, also you may become inflamed and sore or itchy , avoid vaginal douches n using purfumed soaps these are the devil lol !! some home remedies include using yoghurt (unflavoured) and smothering the area ...however I normally seek out medication there are pessaries that are available fr thrush as well as a cream and a pill. also there are pessaries for BV too (liquid in individual tubes) I think I saw an improvement when I used them but BV normally settles down itself hope that helps hun

There's no real change in discharge. Just the smell of chlorine and itchiness. From riding horses and sweating like a pig I DID have a case of female jock itch thanks to tight jeans, sweat, high heat, and humidity over long periods of time (8+ hours a day). But that was brought under control and never was anywhere near my vagina, just the grooves where thigh meets groin.

With the pessaries, where can those be found? I'm a wee bit twitchy after reading about monistat being downright caustic. Is that true? I've never had to deal with this before.
