I got the worst cold ever and whatever I find that seems to work is, surprise surprise - not suitable for pregnant women!

Nose spray? What nose spray can I use?
Any form of lemsip?

Share you advice please cos this cold will make me kill someone!:dohh:

Hey there, You can't use anything with a decongestant in it so no lemsip unfortunately. You can use paracetamol, I swear by Olbas oil to help unblock your nose/sinuses (put it on a tissue to sniff, your pillow at night and you can put it in an oil burner if you have one) and drink plenty of water. Thats about all you can do unfortunately!

Hope you feel better soon!!

If you have a sore throat try gargling with panadol, although my cold has lasted 8 days so far the razor blade type sore throat was gone after 24 hours. Others say honey and lemon in hot water works too. Hope you feel better soon xxx

hey, this seems a common one today. asked pharmacist and a doc and they said best to avoid lemsip and go for half unit of whisky with boiling water, lemon and honey. the tiny amount of alcohol is mainly evaporated with the boiling water and works brilliantly as a decongestant. anyone know about vicks vaporub? ive been using it loads but just seen all the stuff bout decongestants??? xxx

Ashlee I think that you should be ok with the vicks as it is the vapours which act as the decongestant rather than a drug in your system. But as I said before Olbas oil does exactly the same job :)

thanks hun xxxx

When I was sick, I used vicks, robitussin chest decongestant (was told to avoid nasal decongestant), and also some squirts of nasal spray. My doctor OK'ed the robitussin, tyenol, sudafed, cough drops, and vicks. Couldn't find any information for the nasal spray, but used it and was fine and it worked wonders!

we used honey in lemon juice, poured a lit bit of hot water and pinch of salt.. take it as a hot drink every now and then......

I didn't read the posts but I had a bad cold last week and I was forced to use the neti pot ( I feel like I'm drowning) it worked so well I used it 2xs a day for 2 days w vicks on for sleeping and I was better in 3 days.
Listerine for sore throat gargling and hot lemon and honey.

Feel better

I haven't used any medication throughout my pregnancy just to be on the safe side so have been using all the homemade remedies!! My fiance introduced me to this one actually and it's not too bad plus it works!

Hot water in a cup with a couple of squeezes of lemon, a couple of slices of lemon & a teaspoon of honey.

To help unblock my nose.. I used airwaves chewing gum (the strongest flavour).

Make sure you keep drinking lots of water too.

You can also use saline drops, paracetamol, salty water to gargle with and have plenty of fluids. Get well soon.
Ps I would stay away from lemsip, sudafed etc, unless your dr says otherwise.
