Wondering if anyone knows how to go about complaining about a midwife???

Had my booking in appt this morning. She was running really late and as a result rushed through the appt, not listening to what I said and inventing her own answers to questions. She didn't ask me whether I'd had any spotting or bleeding, just filling in that I hadn't and only reluctantly changing her answer when I pointed out I've been to the EPU for emergency scans twice. I wasn't asked about any of the tests and whether I wanted them done or not, and nothing was explained about them. She even invented a blood pressure and BMI for me without measuring my blood pressure or weighing me. Was too shocked in appt to say much, then came home and sobbed, but now feel I need to do something about it as my baby deserves proper care. I have borderline high blood pressure which will need careful monitoring so someone just deciding it's 100/60 is very very wrong.

She's technically falsified your medical records, so ask to speak to the practice manager and definately complain!! x

that is really wrong but im not sure how you can complain, maybe make an appointment with a doctor and tell them?

I'm really sorry, hun. That sounds like a terribly stressful experience and not something you should have to deal with.

If you feel like complaining I'd go to the manager of the practice. If you'd rather not spend your energy on that right now, I'd definitely make sure I found a new doc/midwife and would ask for a new 1st appt since your first one wasn't accurate.

Good luck and take care.

That is seriously bad! She must have a superior to complain to them, or go straight to the nursing & midwifery council.. They have a document on how to do it if you search for them. Hope you get better care next time! Xxx

I would ring up the surgery now......say that you need to speak to the practise manager immediatey and then tell them what happened!!

That is totally out of order her filling in the false info - rather she didnt fill in anything at all than false!

ring and complain now, a booking in appt should take about an hour!

tht is appauling! did she take no blood!?

I think you need to demand another midwife.

Thank you all. Have written a letter to my GP explaining it all which I'm going to drop round when evening surgery is on. Didn't have blood tests done, but where I live you get that done at hospital after 12week scan which is next Friday.

Just so upset and angry about it. Had been looking forward to an hour with the midwife and a chance to chat about my worries and concerns with someone knowledgable, and that just didn't happen.

i would complain if i were you
with my first son my midwife was terrible my son decided to be breech and she wanted me to have him turned. i decided not to and as a result i had a c section and found out that if i had him turned he would have either be badly brain dead or have died due to have the cord round his neck a few times. i organised the c section myself because she wouldnt return my calls and only visited me in hospital 4 days after i had him and it was only because one of her other ladies had a "natural birth something i could have experienced if i listened to her" well thats what she said i yelled at her and told her what would have happened she then only saw me a week later to take my stitches out then that was it. and thats just the crap i put up with at the end of my pregnancy. i didnt complaint then but i wish i had. turns out she did this kind of thing to everyone and one baby became very ill because of her bad practising. in the end alot of ladies complained and she had a lawsuit on her and she no longer can practise. i wish i had of stepped up back then and said something then it could be possible that that poor wee baby wasnt so sick.
i highly doubt that your midwife has just done it to you. can you not change midwifes where you live?

I have the right to change midwife and almost definitely will be - but unfortunately one I saw today is the only one linked with my GPs. The people at my GPs were lovely when I went in - so apologetic and angry on my behalf. Receptionist gave me a huge hug, and basically told me I shouldn't be having to deal with this while pregnant so she's going to give letter to Dr in morning (as he wasn't in tonight), will let me know what he says and what's going to happen and is also going to speak to midwife herself on Friday as well as making sure Dr follows things up.

Sounds like you've got a great doctors there! You should get the care you deserve now then, & hopefully the midwife will be sorted out too, she may think it's all perfectly acceptable behaviour.:nope:

I've got my first midwife app. On tuesday, so a bit nervous now! I've already had a Conversation on the phone & was left feeling a bit inadequate for not knowing all the dates, really not looking forward to it!

Good luck with the rest of time to go! Xxx:kiss:

Thats shocking:wacko:
Good idea to complain hun...i complained about my midwife last pregnancy and got a new one....she was the same as yours rushing through it although she did do the blood pressure and took bloods but she made me throw up she was diggind in my arm that much for the bloods.....threw everywhere had to run to the toilet
She had no time for me and was a waste of space i wus fuming and new i didnt want her to go near my baby after that good luck xox

Thank you all! Just want the best for my baby, as I know we all do, and don't feel yesterday's midwife will give me that. Calmer today and concentrating on looking forward to my scan next Friday - and definitely will be requesting a different midwife.
