I went for my private cervical scan with a consultant, and they've discovered my cervix has shrunk to just 2cm!!! Last week i had it scanned by the NHS and it measured 3.4 and yesterday my usual doc said everything was fine and not to worry. Then today the private doc said i should be worried, took ages scanning my cervix, and has given me a referral for tomorrow to see an expert at St Thomas's Fetal Unit. I'm so scared! I'm back lying in bed til then, and am in a state of shock that things have changed so quickly. On one hand i'm so relieved i paid to see someone today, or else i dread to think would have happened. And at least now i know i've been referred to a professor who is meant to be the UK expert on cervical problems in pregnancy, so at least i feel now there is nothing more i can do but leave it to the experts. So fingers crossed my cervix stays the same, so at least there's enough to give me a stitch... My question is...has anyone else been on bedrest for something like this? Is there a best way to lie? Ie, is bum raised in the air a good idea? What will put the least pressure on my cervix? Waiting to here what time i'm being seen tomorrow, but just hope it's not too late. So worried my little baby will pop out in the next 24 hours!!! Trying to take my mind off it, but the telly is so crap!
