Bad news today

isn't it good that it has shrank?!

oh no, at such early weeks, a shortened cervix can lead to pre-term labor. 2cm is awfully low!! You want your cervix to stay nice and long (atleast 3cm) until baby is due to pop!

I hope everything turns out ok for you sweet, :hugs: i had to go in for scans for the same thing as well (although luckily my cervical length was long, despite me dilating a little bit). Just stay put on bedrest :D and no lifting things etc etc! I don't know if there's a "better" position to lay down in...my doctors told me to lay on my side if i could, not sure what help it does though.

No chick....at 17wks it should be long and closed...the longer, the better really. It should only start to shorten towards the end of pregnancy as it begins to efface (sp?) ready for birth.

Oh okay. I'm obviously getting all confused with dilation :(

 for original poster
