Baking soda test

hi all,

Just done a baking soda test using both bicarb and baking powder (I'm in the UK so I wasn't sure of the equivilant lol).

Rather confusingly - the bicarb didn't fizz at all (girl), but the baking powder fizzed like fury (boy)! The bicarb is, i've since seen, out of date.

Now, I'm not sure if I've a. used the right stuff? or b. used it late enough (I'm 15.5 weeks) or c. if the anti-b's I'm on would affect it?

Any tips please. I'll get some more bicarb with the weekly shop on Friday, so will re-do if I've made a pigs ear. Just curiosity got the better of me majorly. Got another 25 weeks until we meet this LO.........how on earth am I suposed to do that lol

My friend did this test today (which has given me a funny thought in my head lol, how many women in the world today have peed in a pot and added baking soda to it?!)


She used baking soda and it didn't do anything.
I'm thinking of trying it, but I need to wait until I next need to pee!

Update: my friend has just told me that here in UK it's bicarbonate soda, not sure on the difference tbh...

Apparently baking soda is a mix of bicarb and cream of tartar so is different, when birarb is baking SODA (spent ages on various different sites and have come to this conclusion lol).

I don't even know how accurate it is? lol

I think it's a throwback to TTC....just can't stop peeing on things lol.

Lol naturally as women who want families, we just keep peeing on things!!

How much soda do you have to add and how much pee? ahaha

I did bicrabonate or soda. Did nothing not one single fizz.....Im having a boy

I did the test and it didn't fizz at all but I'm having a boy!!! Think this test has a 50% chance of being right like all the others!!! ;-)

Right......thanks for the responses ladies.

I just put a teaspoon into a dish and then tipped enough wee in to cover it. I them tipped it away and sterilised said dish lol.

So, it could be a load of tosh lol....figures lol.

Will have to wait til August I guess lol

Nope - been team yellow with my first two so going to be this time too. I'm finding it so difficult this time though
