so what do you all think of the bambino mio

worth the money?
easy to use?
good first nappy?
good absorbance?

Personally, I think they are fine. I started off with them and they are really simple to use, once I had got into the swing of things I have started to graduate to use different brands. If you are interested in them though my friend got a birth to potty kit for £50 from ebay. Absorbency is really good, M has a size 2 fold and never leaks, I use that fold in a flip wrap though but he doesn't leak in the Mio either. In his night nappy he has a Flip cover with a Mio 1 and a Mio 2 fold and lasts 12 hours. He is a pretty heavy wetter.

On the whole I think they are fine to get you started, I'd definately chose them than faffing with terries my friends that used them gave up with them as they couldn't be bothered with all the folding etc.

I think I've heard two positive reviews of them. I've been using this board for about a year now so I've seen quite a few people talking about them, if that gives you any idea! Personally, I wouldn't bother with them. If you can get a load cheaply then maybe they're worth it for the inserts but the covers aren't great. They're a very basic nappy that doesn't seem to have been updated to keep up with the rest of the nappy world, sadly.

Whatever you choose, I wouldn't buy more than a couple until you have chance to try them on your LO. Not everything suits every baby, whatever reviews you read!

I found them great when Little Man was a newborn, haven't used them recently though, might give them a bash lol

I'm not certain they're worth the money but they're a decent little nappy. The covers have a tendency to go a bit tatty (in my experience) but I've never had a leak with one.
I got a set of 12 with three wraps for about a fiver from my local Asda, so it's definitely worth looking around for a deal on them.

They're not as easy to use as say, an all-in-one (or a disposable!), but there's nothing difficult about them, just pad fold, in the wrap and go. I prefer others now but they're a decent first nappy :flower:

they are ok for a prefold but not the best out there and the wraps are very basic you would be probably better off spending your money on some better wraps but otherwise they differ little from other prefolds cept some like junior joy might be better quality last a bit longer and be a bit more absorbant.

Like Rachel_C I have very, very rarely heard a positive review of them- but the negatives have been plenty. They are a very similar system to Flips which although are more expensive, are much more popular.

If you decide to try them, then just get a trial pack, not a full kit in case they don't suit your baby x

Actually I think Bambino Mios do more of a disservice to washable nappies than anything else - especially the birth to potty packs. The nappies themselves are OK - they make quite good inserts for pocket nappies, and good boosters, but the wraps are pretty awful IMO. If you can find a good deal on them then OK, but the retail price of them is enough to put anyone off. So many people buy a birth to potty pack, which costs over £300, and then find they leak, so they are put off washable nappies altogether, as they don't know that better wraps can be found, which will actually work.

That sounds awfully anti, and I don't mean to, as the cloths themselves can be useful, and if you can find a good offer, then go for it, but be ready to use something else as well, as your baby gets older. And don't be put off if they don't work as a nappy on their own - they have plenty of other uses!

I;d go for fitteds myself though - far better containment, although they are nt as easy to launder, or as quick to dry a prefolds (never worked out why the call them prefolds, when you have to fold them yourself!!!)

I got a BTP Bambino Mio kit for £185 from Kiddicare, personally I just think there is snobbery about BM. Yes they're highstreet and large volume production but that doesn't mean they are terrible. I chose the BTP kit because when I was PG there was far too much info out there on cloth, when you have no children and don't understand the terminology it really is overwhelming.

I went to the Kiddicare store and a BM rep was there who explained the whole system to me in plain English so I fully understood how they worked, the wraps were and are still fine for me. - the only leakage I have had was the very loose BF poo and he never leaks wee. This is the boy that pee's thru Itti's for fun in under an hour!! Yes I use Flip wraps but TBH I only do because they are brighter and more colourful!

Maybe if I lived in an area where there are demos and advisors etc I would have been better informed but there is nothing where I live.

mother care currently have the NB starter kit at half price and i have found 24 size two liners on gumtree for £20

so for under 50 quid i have 3 covers and over 30 prefolds...... its a start at least
