I just order a 3M nexcare basal thermometer. I was so excited until I got it in the mail today and just decided to try it out. My other basal thermometer (different brand) will read with a reading like 98.13 but this one only has one number after the decimal like 98.3 Has anyone ever used this brand? I thought basal thermometers were suppose to have two digits after the decimal? So is this not a basal thermometer like it states or can I use it? Also I tested my new one and old one out and the new one says my temp is 99.3 and the old one says 98.81 that's a big difference!

The way I understand is you need that 4th number, that is going to show you your spike. The normal thermometers will give you 97.3 as in the basal gives 97.35. I only just started temping as I just never remembered when ttc before. But when I did I usually stayed in the 97.3 range for most of the month only the 4th number fluctuated so I needed the 4th number to see my rise and falls on the chart.
Good luck

That's what I thought as well, so I guess it's false advertisement

I used a bbt thermometer with 3 digits and it worked fine for me. From what I understand and have read they only need to read to 1/10 of a degree and not 1/100th. Most fertility apps only show tenth degrees on their layout as well such as Fertility Friend which is what I use. If you enter a 4 digit number it places the daily dot marker floating between the values. Here's a link that might help..

Thanks Pandi, I was so excited to get a new thermometer lol especially one with a lighted display, then it was just a bummer to see it was only 3 digits.

Ive read only to chart to 1/10 as well.. Im using a regular thermometer for charting

I'm kind of nervous to use the 3 digit one lol :dohh:
