Hi,

Do you think that having a bath after sex could wash away sperm? You know sometimes if you go in the bath well a while after sometimes warm water leaks out? well does that mean that the water goes up inside washing away sperm? I've been having showers this month but I'm oving today and really fancy a bath to ease the cramping, not sure if I should just stick to the showers though?

What do you reckon?

Hi swanny,

Didn't wanna read and run, i actually have no idea about having a bath, but I would've thought that if you give the little spermies enough time to actually get up into the womb then you'd be ok to go for a bath......maybe an hour or two after bd'ing?

sorry i couldn't be anymore help xx

Considering the doctor told my OH that heat slows down the motility of and sometimes kills sperm, I would say be careful of the temperature of the bath. But then again, your body might protect them better once their inside. Still, give the sperm some time to get on up there after BDing before taking a shower or bath.

Hey Swanny...

Remember the spermies have to travel into the cervix to get to the eggie (after they get released in the vagina), and the opening of the cervix is only big enough for them to swim through - water doesn't get in!! I would give yourself enough time after :sex: for them to get their groove on and then go ahead and enjoy!!! The good swimmers will make their way into the cervix for business within about 20 minutes, after that anything else will just 'leak' out! lol (and that is okay!)

Baths are important after bding (not necessarily immediately after). So I would advise you not to wait too long to wash up, as you don't want to get an infection. That could be counter-productive to TTC efforts. But yeah, I would make sure the temperature of the baths wasn't too high.
