BBT and HCG Shot

Hello ladies! This is my first Letrozole and hcg shot cycle. The past 3 cycles I was on metformin only. I did stop taking the metformin (for pcos) this time, but I never asked my doctor, and he never mentioned, whether I should continue the metformin.

Anyway, my question is as follows: I took my HCG shot on CD 13 @ 2:30pm, today is CD 16 for me and I have no temp rise. I am suppose to take progesterone suppositories starting today.

1) Should my BBT temp show a rise like usual, or can the meds impact my BBT?

2)Should I take my progesterone or wait to confirm Ovulation with BBT?

3) Could I have ovulated already?

I would have continued the metformin because it can improve how you respond to the fertility meds ,I was told and have read that temps are not accurate on HCG shot and on progesterone, not to even bother with it as long as you have a egg ready HCG shot insures you will ovulate in 36 hours. and progesterone will give you a false rise on the chart. is your doctor not monitoring you? I would call your doctor and ask for a U/S to see if you have ovulated.

Lisa, I want to thank you so much for responding! I also read that BBT for medicated cycles aren't very reliable, but I have also read that for some, they have been just like any other ovulatory one. I have made the decision to put my BBT thermometer to rest this cycle and let the meds work their magic. At this point there isn't much I can do. My CM and some twinges I felt do line up with the expected O day with the HCG trigger!

My fertility specialist is a very good doctor, he has monitored me and on CD 12 my follicle was at 18.5 and recommended I wait till the next day (so my follicle can be at least 20mm), CD 13 to trigger, and start progesterone suppositories today (CD 16 for me). I would call with my concern but it's the weekend and although they are open for certain patients, they will not answer a call unless it's urgent. I plan to call Monday with my concern and ask for a 7 dpo progesterone check to see if I indeed ovulated. But now I'm concerned that if I take the suppositories it will inerfere with true results.. Ugh.

Ultimately, I think I'm going to go ahead and just take the suppositories and pray for the best! Again, I thank you for responding, you were so much help!

You could wait and ask for the 7dpo blood test, but a U/S would show if you have a ruptured follicle now thats why I suggest asking if they will do a U/S when the office opens. once you confirm you did ovulate which you most likely did with a 18.5 follicle on CD 12, then I would start the progesterone, but its up to you if you want to start it now. best of luck!.

Lisa, I found this information on FF. Please take a look, it makes a lot more sense now. My CM line up with HCG Trigger and expected ovulation date. It's just my temps are not reliable right now due to the meds. I will attach what I found on FF. I feel so much more at ease!

Well Lisa, I never mustered up the courage to call my RE to ask about the ovulation, but I am sure I did now due to my FF chart. I have no clue as to when I ovulated because FF is throwing things off, I will attach a link. He didn't monitor ovulation because I am guessing I wasn't doing IUI, just intercourse. Plus, I guess my follicles were a good size.

Anyway, I took a HPT and it was negative, I am not sure if I am 7,8, or 9 dpo but will continue to test until I get my blood work this Wednesday! I will keep you posted.

I think your 7-8 DPO based on the HCG trigger and your chart. which is a little early for a BFP yet.

Hey Lisa, thank you for the support, I just got a call from my RE and my blood work came back BFN . I have to stop TTC because my husband left outta town for work and won't be back until January!!! I wish you the very best!
