Laila fell and smacked her face off the floor i thought she'd bust her lip but on closer inspection there was a split on the outside so i thought she'd bit right through took her upto A&E, they said she'd bust it inside and the force of the fall made it split on the outside too, it hadn't gone right through (thank god!). they've glued it and said it'll likely scar but hopefully won't be too noticeable as it's in the little crease under her bottom lip. i'm dreading seeing her in the morning cause it was all starting to bruise when she fell asleep

oh poor Laila. I had my teeth go through my lips when I was younger. Got a scar inside my lip and another underneath where they came out the other side. My lips swelled up so much, I couldn't get a cup to my mouth without dribbling it all down my chin so I had to drink out of a babies sippy cup ( I was 11, oh the shame !! ) I can still feel a lump in my lips now. My mom did the same when she was younger so we had matching scars

is the scarring really bad?
she's been drinking out of a bottle tonight and ate about 10 after 8's.. little monkey! couldn't say no though cos i was worried she wouldn't be able to eat xx

no, can't see any scarring because one side is on the inside of the lip and the other is tucked underneath where the bottom lip overhangs. I had to have 4 stitches and for years I could see the scars that they made as well.

i'm really worried her pretty face is gonna be scarred and i feel so guilty.. not sure why cos i know accidents happen
it is right underneath her lip if you look at her straight on you can't see it.. i hope it heals well!
they said it the glue hadn't stuck she would've needed stitches but the doctor seeing to her said he wouldn't have been prepared to do them because of where the cut was so not sure what they would've done :\ xxx

Aww poor Laila, hope she's better soon and I hope the scarrings not too bad.

I remember biting through my tongue when I was younger as some kid pushed me in the playground. All I remember is eating lot's of icepops and icecream so I was well within my element I have been left with a scar on my tongue though which is a bit bizzare as it's shaped like a question mark.

you are lucky you got a decent dr -when I had my stitches they used the ones that needed to be removed after a week instead of the ones that dissolved. If you have any idea how quickly the skin on your lips heal then you have some idea how painful it was having the stitches pulled out through the layers of skin that had grown over them, It was a complete cock up, my gp was fuming and wrote a letter of complaint to the hospital!

this little man did the same! if it was like that scar it wouldnt be too bad, although laila is mixed race so abit darker.. not sure what scarring will be like on her? =/

I bet that once the swelling and bruising has gone, you won't even be able to see it. also, because she is so young, the skin seems to heal a lot better. My daughter had chickenpox at easter and 3 of the spots on her top lip got infected and left red scars - they are barely noticeable now and you wouldn't even know they were there if you didn't know where to look

Aww poor thing but I agree once the swelling and bruising has gone down you will probably be hardly able to tell.Like you say accidents happen,shes home and safe now x

My eldest girl had a huge accident because she had without me knowing gotten out of her pushchair harness and going down a slope lent on her drinks tray and it came off and she went flying down the slope (concrete)

She bust her face up, split the frenulum on her upper lip, fat lips, huge scrape down her face and bruises and cuts across her cheek bone. That was a year ago and other than a now weak frenulum (if he damages it again its bust for good) you cant tell that she looked like she had gone 12 rounds with a boxer.

aww what a shame am glad shes ok! laila looks much better than i expected, the scabbing is whats making it look worse xx
