Hi Everyone!

Gosh I feel so stupid! I was cleaning my bathroom before with bleach and did not use gloves - it didnt even cross my mind to use them. After getting into the swing of things with being pregnant and getting used to it, it didnt even cross my mind to use gloves (I know you really should).

Anyway, I know I breathed some fumes in because I had to leave the bathroom and get some fresh air because I could feel it getting into my chest. However I am worried that maybe some bleach was absorbed by my skin and into my blood stream because I didn't wear gloves.

Everything I have read on the internet suggests using bleach when pregnant is safe, as long as the necessary precautions have been used.

Does anyone know if bleach can be absorbed by the skin if using it without gloves (I had it on my hands for a good 15 minutes)? I keep thinking chemicals will cross the baby's path :( (im 8 weeks).

OH can do the cleaning from now on!!

Thank you ladies x

I don't think you have anything to worry about but I do know when we I was working in the hospital we used heavy duty strength clorox wipes and they have bleech in them (among other things) and we were always told to use gloves because it can leach into your skin and affect you liver but it does take repeat exposure over time so I am sure you are fine. I watch my strange addiction once and a woman was drinking bleach while pregnant and her baby was suprisingly doing fine. (not suggesting anyone do that!)

i feel reassured now - especially if a women was drinking bleach when she was pregnant - i have no idea how her body survived that!

I think I am just worrying myself - but when I read that it could get into your bloodstream it made me panic!

The moral of the story is to use gloves lol

I use green works products because you can use them on your counters and they are even safe to eat off instead of most things like clorox where you should actually rinse after cleaning with. They still kill 99% of germs. I had to try something because the strong smell of most cleaners made me sick and I think I will continue to stick with even when I am no longer pregnant.
