benefit help?

just wondering if anyone has a site to download forms for child tax credits, working tax credits and child benefit. or where you go to claim for them?

after giving up waiting for the call centre! kept me on hold for an hour pfft..

also, don't want to sound a fool but are child tax credits the same as child benefit? or are they two different things

they are two seperate things hun... everyone is entitled to child benefit - which is like £20 a week I think. you should go to www.direct.gov.uk and it will have the forms/numbers you need xx

Child tax and child benefit are two seperate incomes for people with children, working tax is only if you or your partner work, but you can claim child ben, child tax and income support if you are not working, unfortunetly you cannot get a for from anywhere apart from calling hmrc themselves, on 08453003600 i know how long it takes to get through, iv been there an took me days, was even on the news some time ago, people couldnt get through, it can be so frustrating, only thing i can suggest is keep trying there is an option now to request a claim pack, other option is to go into a jobcentre plus, and ask an advisor if they can get you through cos your in a great deal of stress, they have direct numbers for them i had to do this in the end, and was able to sit at their desk and talk to them on the phone, remember though it can take 10days to recive your form, dont take any stick of them either, demand they send you one even if they say you cant claim yet, just tell them you want the form rdy for when you can claim cos it took you so long to get through, gl hun

Thanks ladies, has been driving me mad waiting for them to pick up! so you can only get child tax credits if you don't work?

i may just pop up the local job centre before i smash my phone lol! although last time they told me they couldn't help me as i didn't claim benefits! its such a pain!
