Hey ladies,

I am pregnant with a little boy due on November 24th and I am trying to figure out what the best baby monitor is to buy for him.

I use a regular audio monitor with my first son but I either want a video monitor or movement monitor.

So I guess im wondering what monitors you ladies have used and what results you have gotten from them. I like the idea of being able to see my baby and see that everything is ok but I also really like the idea of a movement monitor that might alert me to a serious issue in time to do something.

They sell the angelcare monitor and angelcare deluxe monitors at babies r us...so I could get them easily enough.

I was actually thinking if I bought just the regular angelcare monitor (not the deluxe) then I could also afford a summer infant day and night monitor (video monitor) as my budget for a monitor is about $200 and they are each about $100.

Is it ridiculous for me to get them both? I adopted my older son (adoption went through at 1 yr old but he was living with my family at birth) so I didnt go through all the worrying about SIDS that I am now. His birth mother was living with us at first and adoption was really mentioned seriously until about 4 months old...so I really just never thought about it.

I am finding myself now feeling kind of anxious about the new baby and doing everything possible to prevent any issues.

So anyways, any advice on monitors from other mommys would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Laura

I'm from the UK so I dont really know whats available in the US but if you want both and it will put your mind at ease then do it. Everyone thought I was silly to buy the angelcare movement and sound monitor telling me i wouldnt need it but I'm glad I didnt listen as it puts my mind at ease knowing it's on.

Hey,

Thanks! I actually just bought the angelcare deluxe monitor and a video monitor. They were both on sale, today was the last day of the sale plus I had a 20% off coupon! :) So I figured it was a deal I couldnt resist and I could always return something if I changed my mind. :) Yay for sales!!!

yay for sales indeed! I just have the angelcare monitor and love it - what's the difference between the deluxe and the regular? our toys-r-us only had one. I am thinking about getting a video monitor now that he's older so I can see what he's doing when he goes down for naps and stuff.

Hey-

The deluxe has an extra parent handheld unit so you can leave one in your bedrm and carry the other around. The parental units display the nurserys temperature (nifty...huh?) and the nursery unit has a built in nightlight. Its $50 more then the regular one at babies r us but with the sale and the coupon it made total sense to get it! :)

I also got the Summer Infant Slim & Secure Handheld Color Video monitor...so I really spent more money then planned...but with the sale and coupon it wasnt bad!!!

I know that ill feel better having both monitors.... :happydance:

oh mine displays the temperature and the nursery unit has the built in nightlight but we only have 1 parental unit.

anything to put your mind at ease is great! I know that even now when we are not at home and he's sleeping without the sensor I worry (which is silly, because I know he's fine) but I'm just so used to being able to look at the monitor and see the ticker moving.

Yea...I think its such a great monitor! Im surprised I havent heard more about it! Whats a great idea.... I'm pretty scared of SIDS...so im hoping this will help me from being to neurotic...lol

Only 2 months (ish) 2 go until Baby Shane makes his appearence!! I cant wait!! <3 <3

aw, well enjoy the rest of your pregnancy :) it seems to last forever, but it's totally worth the wait!
