Hi all,

I did my first blood test today. I'm 5 weeks and the result is: 6,254.

Is that good? I know it's the second one in 48 hours that matters. But was just wondering if that is a good number☺️

Sounds good to me, in fact it's pretty high though hcg varies quite a lot, do you have in increased chance for twins maybe?

Well actually, due to my age. I'm 48, yes twins could be a possibility.
Can't wait for my next blood test and a scan.

I just looked up the average as I got mine back today as well. At 6 weeks I was 94,185. The average for 6 weeks is 1080-56500. For 5 weeks it's 18-7340, so you're right on target I'd say!!

Thanks for that. Wow, yours is up there, twins?

As long as it's going up, it's good :) And congratulations! I was 46 when I had my first. She was quite a surprise as I thought my symptoms were of perimenopause since I wasn't trying to get pregnant! LOL And yes, the chance of twins goes up as you get older so it's a possibility. I wouldn't base that on hcg numbers though since they can vary widely. With daughter, mine was 18,762 at 4w6d. I would have loved twins though! Happy healthy 9 months!!

Thanks Scout! It's encouraging to hear about other older women having babies. This will be my third. I have a 26 and 17 year old. A total surprise, I also thought I was headed for menopause. I'm not sure I'd cope with twins, still getting used to the idea of one healthy baby

Mine is 1096, at 4 weeks.

Wow you girls have such high levels!
Mine were only 4700 at 5w+4d!

Did my second beta today and it was 9193 at 5 weeks 2 days so only rose 47% in 48 hours. See my ob next week! :nope:

Did some serious googling today and seems I shouldn't be worrying yet as hCG over 6000 takes 4 or more days to double and mine is doubling in 3 days according the hCG level calculator!:happydance:

Hey beta levels above 2000 raises slower... I think 47% is cool.
Btw, I just have 1915 at 5w1d..., I have bad history.. Still just keeping hopes high...

At 4w6d (24DPO) with twins I was at 23,500 HCG. At 6w2d I was 164,000.
If you're curious about twins doubling time, there is a chart of mine in the first page of my journal.

Beta HcG @ 3-15-15 (Est. 4 Weeks): 673 mIU/mL
Beta HcG @ 3-29-15 (Est. 6 Weeks): 64,634 mIU/mL
