Anyone do this? We have disposable biodegradable inserts. The manufacturer suggests composting them. We have a garden. Just wondered if this is a good idea? Im still deciding if it is strange to use LO excrement for food! I usually use mushroom compost, not manure so it just seems a bit odd.

You can compost ones which are just wet, but not dirty ones. They make great compost!

It didn't say that on their site. If that is the case then it is pointless! LO goes with every diaper change. In 6 weeks I have only changed a handful of them that are only wet. I think something is wrong if he doesn't go for a few hours!

Thanks for the response!

Your LO will probably start pooing less as he gets older. If he's just doing little BF poos, I would be tempted to wipe off what you can or even give the insert a little rinse and compost it anyway. You could always use the compost made from them just for non-edible plants. Could I ask why you're using disposable inserts though? Could you not switch to full cloth?

Just trying things out. Just started with the cloth & we have some "hybrid" cloths we bought. I bought then originally for my our parents the couple times a month we might have to leave him for work. I have the cloth inserts too just haven't pre-washed them yet. They were like the first things we bought I don't know why I never washed them!
I have some regular covers and prefolds that I might try today. Basically just seeing what works for us.
