Sooo yesterday was my follow up 6 week appointment with OB/GYN that delivered Kyleigh. As before i was against birth control the plan was to be abstinent but i changed my mind and i got the depo provera shot . My reason for it was for shorter menstrual . Normally i had a heavy menstrual that lasted for 2 weeks between how annoying and stressful . I'm feeling a little happy and guilty about getting the shot or any birth control method . I just don't like the idea of the body not naturally flowing as it should but yeah that's pretty much .

Anybody else using depo ? or used it in the past and got off of it ? If so how is your experience ?

I do understand its side effects positive and negative but every women is different . I read positive and nightmare stories but once again everyone takes differently so i wont really feed into negative stories .

I personally haven't used it and I don't plan on it after I have my son (my mind might change) but my mom was on it, and it wasn't good for her  She got pregnant twice on it, within two years. And it made her periods crazy, like she'd have one for a month straight, then not get another for half a year. She didn't even find out she was pregnant the second time until about 18 weeks!

But on the other hand, I have a friend who is on it, and she loves it! She said it's perfect for her. She's just upset that she's gained weight while on it (that can be a side affect) but I also think she's gaining weight from the other medications she's on - anti-depressants and anti-anxietys, which can also cause weight gain

I think it's different for everyone, you could always give it a shot and then just decide then what you should do next, either continue it if it works great or try something new

I'm probably just going to abstain from sex for as long as I can.. my HPV doesn't allow me to use Nuvaring or anything inserted vaginally, and I don't trust shots or permanent inserts.. and I can't remember to take the pill every day; probably going to have to use condoms.

I'm considering using it but I'm a bit put off by having it done because the side effects won't go away for a while and I got very depressed on the pill. I'm also put off because I've heard it can really screw with your cycle and take a while to get pregnant again when you come off.. If anyone has any experience with getting pregnant after depo I'd love to hear about it :flower:

I've been told by a lot of people that the injection isn't very good.

I was on and off it for the past 3 years. I was on it for 6 months and then as i wasn't getting any action i came off it and it took a while for my periods to become regular. Then i went back on it a few months later but came off it again last year.
The only side effects i got was gaining weight. I did love it at times because i got no periods and saved money on tampons!
It does take a while for you to get your period again, and for them to become regular, but that might just be me.
