ok ladies i am drawing up my birth plan

so far i have

I would like to avoid a caesarean section were possible, but if the need arises, Aaron is to be given the choice to come to theatre; it is up to him to accept or decline. He must not be forced into attending.

I would like the cord left intact as long as possible, therefore if baby needs medical attention I request that this is done on the bed with the cord still intact.

If I do require a delivery in theatre I do not wish to know the sex of my baby, Aaron will be the one to tell me this.

If the baby needs transferring to another unit or hospital, Aaron MUST be by their side!

I do NOT want my baby to be given any formula without the consent of myself, or if I am unable Aaron, if applicable I would like to feed my baby via expressed breastmilk.

can anybody think of anything i need to add?

Hi,
Sounds good! Its great to give it some thought-I need to do this.
One thing I would add is who you wish to cut the cord, they seem to like to know this in the birth plan.
xx

i have stated in another section that i wish for the OH to cut the cord!

this is only for if I am taken to theatre, OH has a sever fear of needles and i don't want him to be pressurised into coming into theatre, even a needle on TV has him dizzy and clamy

I would say it sounds good but do be prepared that sometimes events just take over and the birth plan can go a bit out of the window. Although they followed my birth plan pretty well last time I haven't made it so detailed this time as a lot of the decisions will depend on what is best for baby at the time and in the circumstances.
For example I wanted baby handed straight to me but he had cord wrapped round his neck and they needed to give him a bit of suction so I just said give him straight to Drs. They wouldn't have been able to do this without cutting the cord.
Fingers crossed everything will go to plan for you.

I agree with this, I know where I live not very much attention would be paid to a birth plan. Things move quickly at times and they just need to make decisions. My son's cord was wrapped around him as well, so his HR kept dropping in the womb. Everything was a bit chaotic in the end, and they said I just needed to get him out ASAP! Then I didn't even get to hold him for ages afterwards. I do have a midwife this time, so hoping things will be slightly better!

I thought I'd wrote this for a second there! lol my partners name is also Aaron and we also don't know the sex.
I totally agree with you though, my plan is pretty much the same as yours :)

My husband used to faint at the sight of blood, infact i took him with me when i had my implant cut out and he fainted lol! So in my birthplan we discussed it and he said no chance he could go to theatre. I wanted him there more than anything but i knew he couldnt. So i wrote in my birth plan that he wouldnt come into theatre.

I have some complications and they wanted me to go, and we were fine with it and they nagged him to come and he said no, while looking terrified at me, so they kept me in the room a little longer and called on help and i managed to deliver my son in delivery. :happydance:

You know what though? he watched the entire thing, my epidural, my episitomy etc etc.he was fine.

This time its twins and very likely ill end up in theatre, either for delivery or section. but this time he has no problem with it, infact i know he will be fine. He has even given blood a few times since.
