My mum has asked if I want her there again, last time she was there because my boyfriend was down south training (he managed to make it in time for the birth). But this time I need someone to look after my son. I want her there too but my dads a bit of a woos and is scared of looking after my son over night on his own lol. My partner is based an hour and a half away so as soon as i know im in proper labour he will be on his way.

Whats your plan?

Im just having OH but then Im 38 so despite being close to my mum I dont feel like I need her there. If I were young I probably would want either her or my sister there. x

Just hubby...we just made it the two of us with my son too. For a number of reasons. In case something were to go wrong we would deal with it as a couple and not have to deal with anyone else's reactions, so the focus would be on the baby and I wouldn't be distracted when I need to push...also...we took about an hour of it being just the 3 of us to take it all in and cry or laugh or just process the fact that we had a baby. I loved that we had that time as a family. This time I am even thinking of having my MIL and mother bring my son up to the hospital so it can be the 4 of us for that hour before the grandparents show up. I want my son to have that special moment of being the first to meet baby sister.

That is a good point. How old is your son? Mine will be almost 3 wjen his brother or sister is born. I wasnt going to ask my mum to come this time but since she has asked if I want her there im not sure I can say no. She wouldnt be upset or anything id just feel mean.

He is a little over 3 right now. I am ok if baby is born at 3am with them waking him up. My MIL lives 2 blocks from the hospital and my mom will stay at her place while I am in labor. It all depends on what feels good to you. I am such a freak about creating family memories with just us. If you decide to not have her you can have her sit with LO in the waiting room and keep him occupied and after baby is born your OH can go get him and bring him in and then after tour time together everyone can come in and see the new addition...or you might go in labor and feel like "I want my mommy!!" lol

I'l have OH and mum there! Me and my mum are more like sisters tbh she had me young so we have always had a close relationship and I know I'l panic if she isn't there because she will keep me sane if I lose it! Plus she's gonna be my hypnobirthing partner so she will have learnt all the calming techniques! I'm worried about OH i think he's gonna go into shock seeing me in labour! Lol

See me and mine arent really close. When I was in labour was the first time in years she had held my hand or hugged me or anything remotely motherly like!!! My parther is the type of person who makes jokes when he gets nervous so you can imagine how annoying he was haha. If I didnt have my mum there to keep me sane Id have killed him (in between pushing lol)

Lol Aw I wish my OH was like that sometimes! Hes quiet shy so I really don't know what he's gonna be like! My mum keeps saying he might suprise me
Once were in there!

Im just HOPPING my husband is in town, and not on a road call. Though his boss is pretty good so I think he's boss will keep him here once im close enough to going in to labor.

My hubby and i are the only ones who will be in the room, our parents are flying up before LO is due so i will try and labour at home for as long as possible and then head off to the hospital together. Id say our parents will stay at home but they may come with us but they arent coming in the room!
