why do people use them? what do they do? should i get one?

I am using mine to help with my spd and to try get my transverse baby to turn! People also use them in labour too... as far as where to get them from, I have bought a regular gym ball for £5 from Lidl but it was a couple of weeks ago so not sure if they still have them now? :flower:

I sat on one for the first time at my NCT class last night and it was pretty comfy so think I will get one. Asda sell them for £6 although online it says ghey are out of stock. They are good for posture, you can sit and rock on them and helpful for labour apparently.

hmm i was going to make this thread, well i was going to ask when you should start using them? is it to early for me to use one? xx

they are great for getting the baby in position but I also used one in early labour on the labour ward, the pain I had was niggling and it help to bounce on the ball whilst sucking in the gas and air and also roll my hips around as I was trying to break my waters :)

I have one but haven't blown it up yet as I'm not sure how I'm going to keep it from the kids/pets :dohh:

It's my toy and I'm NOT sharing so there :brat:

lol when i get mine out DS is going to think all his Christmas' have come at once he loves footballs :)

I have a 65cm ball with pump for sale £11 posted. I bought it from a lady on here, and I rather like bouncing on it, especially having spd it really helped to take pressure off my pelvis. But as I'm having a section I let the air out of it just in case I put myself in labour!! So I havent used it in a while.

Hi, hope you don't mind a comment from the other end?

I still use mine - it helps me rock my baby to sleep, and you can do some fun games on them bouncing and rocking and swaying your little one :)

I used mine during pregnancy to turn my baby because he was back to back, good for early labour, and it also helps strength your pelvic floor muscles I think so its good easy exercise for post birth as well.

Sorry for being dim, but HOW do you use it to do all these things? Do you just sit on top of it and that helps get the baby in a good position and relieve SPD etc, or do you have be in certain positions over it??

i've got one, but not sure when to start using it. i think she's moved head down anyway atm so i dont think i'll need it to get her into position. but i'm tempted to get it out and have a bounce heehee. x

I don't know about SPD I'm afraid but for turning the baby I was told that leaning forward is a good thing - so you can just literally sit on it slightly forward and watch TV!

For better effect I did gentle bouncing and then you can sway your hips side to side and do hip circles as well.

They improve your posture as you cant slump or you would fall off so it helps the baby get into position where as if you are sat on the sofa you dont sit correctly so your pelvis is bent! I bounce around on mine in the evenings whilst playing on my wii, it definately moves the baby, whether it has helped to engage the baby I dont know!

:haha: its in Lidl where i saw it. but it was 4 in euros over here. they must have them as Lidl only just opened over here :flower:

i didnt know it helps spd, as i have that now and then.
i posted this yesterday and it went to page 3!!!!!! this is why i dont like pregnancy forums. too many pregnant ladies posting!! :D

Mine really helped in labour last time  I just sat on it and made small circles with my hips whilst breathing in and out. I think it helps to distract you when you're concentrating on doing something else. I'd do 10 circles clockwise, then 10 circles anti-clockwise, etc, whilst concentrating on deep breaths in and out. That got me to 8-9cm :D

I am troo getting one for my SPD. It helps alot with movement in my hips and also give exercise in your legs and bum :)
