We've been advised to contact the Early pregnancy unit tomorrow (Friday) morning as was bleeding a little Wednesday night and cramping a bit. Really scared as I had a miscarriage in January :( the local EPU is only open 8.30-12.30 and on weekdays which I thought was a little odd.

I'm really nervous though! What will happen at the EPU?xx

I'm not sure what the EPU is I'm from Canada. I'm going to assume its something like going to emerg at the hospital here. In which case they will probably take blood to check HCG lvls and or give you an ultrasound (scan), and or possibly check to see if your cervix is closed. Good luck hun!

when ive been epu they dip your urine take your blood pressure than scan you! x

at 11weeks with my daughter i had a severe bleed and went into er they just did a scan and sent me home saying it looked fine but there was nothing they could do..she turned out fine so try not to stress too much it will only make matters worse try to relax(i know its hard!) i also had a big bleed at 33 weeks and had a completley healthy baby with plenty of fluid ect.
goodluck

I had to go to the EPU with my last pregnancy and all they did was scan me but I had to really push for it as they were going to send me home as my 12 weeks scan was due 6 days later and they thought all would be ok, it turned out unfortunately that my baby had died (NOT SAYING THIS IS WHATS HAPPENED TO YOU) but if your not happy with what they say do like I did and push for a scan to put your mind at rest hun.

Good luck and remember lots of people bleed and go onto have healthy babies.

Thinking of you and KUP xxxxx

Oh hun, hope everything turns out ok. They may check your cervix, or do a scan. Keep going on about a scan though, they can be quite reluctant to give them to people x

Totally agree with this, Don't understand why they are so reluctant though do you? I mean it literally took 5-10 minutes and about 6 sonographers at the time were just sitting in the office drinking chatting and drinking tea which annoyed me a little as I really annoyed me as they had tried to send me home, it was only the kind nurse that was sat in there with the doctor that nipped off to arrange for me to get scanned! xx

Just read my post back and sorry some of it didn't quite make sense, I had my son sitting on my lap whilst typing!!!

haha don't worry hun my baby brain makes my sentances look freaky sometimes

I really will never understand, it take literlally 60 seconds to find a baby and heartbeat. On Monday at my scan a lady came incrying begging for a scan, i just offered her my place poor girl. She was in for literally 2 minutes and everything was fine - and i still got my appointment. So strange how they do things x

Hello poppet, I went to the EPU on Tuesday morning. I had brown spotting last Thurs-Sat, saw Doc Monday, got scan Tues morning (my docs don't mess around!!). Some ladies in there had blood taken but they just scanned me and there was a little Tinker in there with a heart beating away :) Blood doesnt always mean the end. Let me know how u get on :hugs:

Thankyou for your kind words everyone :)

we've just got back, they were convinced that I wasn't preggers at first as I didn't have a period after miscarriage. They did a scan and tada! Little baby with heartbeat! 7.4 weeks along and bubs is 11.8mm ctr! So happy xx

That is fantastic news hunni congratulations! :D You can relax now and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy knowing bubs is healthy :hugs: x

congrats!!
maybe its resources - it probably costs the nhs £100 per scan or something stupid!

So happy for you Fiore!!! Hope all stays well for you and Bubs!! Rest up!
