I have a post in 1st trimester but I am thinking this might be a better place. I am 5+1 and started bleeding on Friday the 16th. U/s showed nothing in uterus. Had an hcg test done at 430pm and went home. Spotted/bled all weekend and had another hcg done on sunday at 430pm. The dr said the levels doubled and wanted me to come in today. This morning I had dizziness and heavier bleeding (not gushing or filling a pad, sorry tmi) decided to go to dr early. just as I was walking out the door the dr called to cancel my appointment. I told them what was happening and they sent me to the er. They did another hcg and again the numbers are going up. The er dr said my numbers were low though. That by 430 today they have risien but may not have completely doubled. I only have one number they don't like to share the info. I have to file a formal request. Sunday my number was 178. She said that my numbers indicate a 4.5-5 week pregnancy instead of a 5+ week pregnancy. Anyone have something similar? I am freaking out. Haven't seen or spoken to my dr and the most info I got was today at the er.

While I personally haven't experienced this, there have been a few threads from ladies in similar situations. I hope one of them can chime in with more useful information, but in the meanwhile sending :hugs: and positive thoughts your way!

I'm sory hun, without the HCG numbers it is hard to say what is going on.

I was so upset when they wouldn't tell me.

You should be, it's your tests, if anyone has the right to know it's you. I would file whatever I had to file to get my results. In my case I keep an exact copy of my medical chart at all times. As soon as I leave my appointments I request a copy of that day's visit be faxed to me once the notes are filled in.

Same exact thing happened to me and it turned out that I must have ovulated later, My cycles we not consistant and at the time I was only 3-4 weeks. My numbers were like 40 and then went to 80 (something like that, can't remember exact) they were very low. We did an ultra sound and nothing was found and have to keep going back and taking test and finally saw the baby at 6 weeks and all was fine. They were worried since I had a previous ectopic pregnancy.

Good Luck, I hope it all works out.

Hoping to get a copy today. I have been trying to keep track of my bleeding and have noticed a pattern. Gonna talk to the dr today about it. I have always been pretty regular with everything and I have noticed the bleeding is always worst in the am when I go to the bathroom especially when I have a BM (sorry tmi) By the time I go to bed there is no bleeding at all. So this am I was able to remain calm when the bleeding got worse. Hoping for an end to this soon.

All you can do in the meantime is drink lots of water and staty off your feet as much as possible, it will help reduce any bleeding.

I have my numbers. Dr said they are doubling but low. Anyone know how bad these numbers really are????

4+4 = 75
4+6 = 178 (at 48 hours)
5+1 = 291 (this test was taken @40hrs)

Those numbers look pretty good to me :winkwink: Personally I think you might be a few days less than you think. It's hars to compare HCG as we all produce it at different rates, so what's normal for one person is different for another.
I had an US at 5 weeks and all they saw was a small (tiny) sac. At 7 weeks a Fetal Pole with strong HB and at 10 weeks a beautiful baby.
I hope everything goes positive for you :hugs::hugs:

Thanks Glowstar.
I am hoping that's the case. I don't know when I ovulated but we bd'd Aug 29 My lmp was August 15. So by a 28 day cycle I got my dates. It's possible I conceived a few days later. Went for another HCG this AM will find out the results this afternoon.

Numbers went from 291 to 620. Dr was really optimistic. Scheduled for an ultrasound on Wed next week. Hopefully it will go well. Gosh I want to hope that all is going well just so scared I will be disappointed in the end. But for now I am pregnant and my numbers are doubling which hopefully means my bean is growing.:happydance:

:hugs: Glad to hear the doc is optimistic! Hope you can relax at least a little bit before your scan. Will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers :)

Thanks so much to everyone for your kinda thoughts and info. I am trying so hard to stay optimistic. Hopefully this will turn out ok.

Seriously, your numbers are completely normal. In early pregnancy your numbers are expected to double every 48-72 hours-ish and then slow down. The doubling time is much more important than the hcg numbers themselves. Once your hcg is 1000-1500 an internal scan can just about show a sac and after that what the scan shows is more important than hcg numbers.

The bleeding is scary, but your numbers are still doubling nicely, which is a good sign. As the others have mentioned, the best you can do now is rest up and stay hydrated. Here's a little magic :dust: for your little one

I'm in a similar situation, my numbers are rising (they are actually over 40,000 as of yesterday) but I have been spotting off and on for over 2 weeks now.

Looking at your numbers I would echo what Glowstar said, I think you may just be a couple days behind what you thought, because they seem to be increasing and a good pace and are within the "normal" range.

Keep us updated on how your ultrasound goes. I will be having mine on Tuesday and am hoping to see a heartbeat to put me at ease, and I have been prescribed bedrest in the meantime. Of course that means I have sat here for the last day and a half googling all the different possibilities...

Good luck...I really hope it all turns out well for you!

Thanks Ceejie. I hope it all goes well for you. How far along are you? I completely get the googling. I have been doing the same. My boyfriend is getting ready to child lock my laptop. I am thinking it might not be a bad idea. I will look for you on Tuesday to see how it went. Good luck!:hugs:
