So I was talking to my OH and all of a sudden my gums starting bleeding non stop for no apparant reason.

I hadn't brushed my teeth yet and I ate cereal earlier but that was about it.

Is this a symptom of pregnancy and if so is it normal?

Has anyone experienced this?

Your gums are more sensitive while pregnant, I'm not sure about them bleeding randomly, that might be something you should ask your MW.

Gums and teeth are more sensitive, and also more prone to gingivitis. Since you're gums completely randomly started bleeding...I'd be inclined to say you've gotten gingivitis.

Try brushing really regularly (at least morning and night, but also after meals if you can), flossing at least once a day, and using mouthwash twice a day. It should help. Otherwise I'd tell your doctor about it and go see a dentist. There are antibiotics for it if it gets really bad, but you should be able to stop it before then!

Hi Ladies,

I have just searched for a thread on this and looking at your tickers you are all much further along than me, however I have just experienced this for the first time this morning. I have ALWAYS had very good oral hygene, flossing, mouthwash and brushing 2-3 times a day so I'll be honest I am mortified that I have possibly developed gingivitis. I am now more worried because I have developed it early in my pregnancy. Its really hard to get an apointment at my dentist so I may have to wait a while to get seen, in the mean time can anyone advise me what else, apart from the flossing, mouthwash and brushing, I can do to treat this?

Ive been having the same problem, altho I seem to throw up every time i brush my teeth (i think its the mint flavour) But i always had swollen gums and have always had problems with my teeth..
try and go to the dentists as much as you can, tell them your pregnant and they can give you good advice. I havent been yet but I need to make an appointment soon!!

I had so many problems with my teeth during my pregnancy, and my wisdom teeth decided to come throught then aswel!

My teeth did bleed alot more during pregnancy, it may be pregnancy gingavitis. Keep up with your oral hygeine & if it gets worse maybe call your dentist? x
