Quick question ladies if anyone could help me. I am 11 +5 weeks and recently noticed that when I brush my teeth my gums bleed. I know some of my prego friends had major problems with teeth while expecting so I guess my question is is there anything I could do, change toothpaste maybe etc, to stop the bleeding.

Thanks for your help ladies :)

Hi Sousou,
Bleeding gums is perfectly normal particularly during early pregnancy although it can continue throughout. You should get yourself a soft bristle toothbrush & be careful not to brush too hard, there really is no need. Try limiting the number of times you brush your teeth to twice a day (I'm a demon for more at the mo to get rid of bad taste) , use a sugar free chewing gum after you eat to help.

It will go eventually but shouldn't cause you any major problems

My dentist gave me corsodal (sp?) mouthwash last year when I was pregnant, and a prescription for special toothpaste, I had quite bad gums though
