blood tests and scans questions

I finally saw my gp today and they didn't even take a blood test??? I see my midwife next week for the first time. Should I expect to get one then? I was expecting something more...

When did you get your first blood test?



Regarding scans: I had a lap in July and am having one last scan done privately which will be in my 7th week -- about 6.5 weeks.

Is that too early? What can they see at that point?

in regards to bloods when i saw my doctor it was just book wit midwife and that was that then i had blood at my second midwife appoinment at 9/10 weeks i had my booking in bloods done and as for scan i dont really know as i have never had a scan earlier then 11 weeks x

I got given blood test forms at my booking in appointment at 81/2 weeks and I had to take those to the hospital to have the blood taken. Some midwives take and send off the blood themselves but they don't do that at my surgery.

I had a scan at six and a half weeks, I saw the sac, a yolk sac and a tiny tiny embryo - they could also just about make out the heart activity.

I also had my bloods drawn at mw appointment at 9 weeks. I had an early scan at 6 weeks and saw a flicker of a heartbeat, but everyone's different and if your just a few days behind what you think, you might not see one x

Thanks! I kept hearing stories about women who had bloodtests right away with their hcg levels given(from the ttc/2 week wait) forums. So I was getting worried!
