Hi everyone. I am VERY new to this site and have appreciated reading all our your thoughts and encouragement to one another.

My question is, is it the general consensus that the blue dye tests are pretty unreliable? And pink is much better?

I have taken "a few" (or a lot) of tests and the blue dye tests I had (CVS and Target brand) showed a positive result within the 2 minutes but the First Response I took showed no line.

Anyone else have this experience?

(I have no idea how many DPO I am but AF is due Sept. 5th.)

Thank you!!

in order for the blue dyes to be positive (at least the clearblue ones) the test line has to be the same thickness of the control line. Call the test people and if they're invalid positives, they'll send you replacements. Clearblue had to send me three digitals because I got three false positives on their dye tests. It really through me for a loop before I knew how unreliable they were.

I have never gotten a negative result with blue dye tests, except for the one I took during the cycle that I was actually pregnant. The worst blue dye tests are the Equate and Target brand blue dye tests that have a clear case. Those tests should not be on the shelves. They refuse to admit that they are not accurate at all.

Never, ever use a blue dye test.

My target blue dye was accurate, but the line was the thickness of the control.
Every other one I have taken (not preg) had a skinny blue line:wacko:

with th clearblue i got three false + n they sent me three digi..... two months ago
n with dollar store blue dye tests in jan. had a faint pos n it was right but i m/c in feb with that one so dont trust the clearblue unless it is a thick line

Thank you so much for your responses!! After reading soooo many negatives on this site about blue dye tests, I won't EVER use one again! (Thankfully, I think I got my BFP on a FRER yesterday but am being cautiously optimistic!)

Thanks and good luck to everyone! :hugs:

I took a dollar store blue dye test on Sept 3rd which came up positive and then again on Sept 7th which also came up positive, Today I went to the clinic to get it confirmed and I am indeed pregnant so from my personal experience I would say that blue dye tests aren't that bad, I've alctually had more problems with FRER than the cheapie tests.

I'm having the same problem....all my blue dye tests are coming back positive accept the ones I took at night when my urine was diluted and when I had my husband test one it too came up negative (I was testing for evaps and didnt get one on either) but all mine came back with blue lines (ept...walgreens version of ept and walmart equate....) but all the pink dye tests are coming up negative.....I thought I saw a line today on my afternoon FRER....but my eyes could be playing tricks on me....Good luck!
