Hi,

The doctor has referred me for a scan on my ovaries due to possible cysts.

The scan is in 9 days but AF is due in the next couple of days. So this means that AF will only just have finished by the appointment (if she turns up on time :witch:) or I'll be spotting. Or, if I'm very lucky, I *could* be a little bit pregnant.

Will either being on AF (or just off) or being pregnant, affect whether they do the scan?

Also, what happens at the scan? I've never had an internal scan before

xx

hey hun

I have polycystic ovaries and it was diagnosed via a scan

its an internal (vaginal) scan and doesn't hurt at all

Im not sure about whether you can have it when you are on your period but I know you can have it when your pregnant as I had the same kind of scan in early pregnancy with my son

Good luck x

I have been for loads of these due to PCOS.

It's ok, not pleasant but not awful either. You'll be asked to take off your bottoms and they'll give you something to put over your legs so you're not exposed. The camera is a long probe which they put a condom over. They'll lift the cover, insert it and angle it about to get a good look. It's much the same as a smear/Pap test

I have been before when bleeding before and during pregnancy. It won't affect the scan at all it'll just be a bit messy.

Good luck, fingers crossed instead you get a sneak peek at a baby!
