Books

Oh my god I love WAY too many books.

I'm a huge book worm.

My all time faves include:
Flowers for Algernon
The Giver
Harry Potter (the entire series)
Into the Wild
Of Mice and Men
On the Road
The Diary of Anne Frank
Night
The Catcher in the Rye

me too! i love harry potter!
i just got done with the whole sookie stackhouse series (aka true blood)
i am now on the shopaholic series. they are pretty good!
when i a done i plan on reading, a family history and true colors.
the only book i havent read on your list is into the wild...isnt that a movie??

It was made into a movie but the book is SO much better.
It's a true story. It really happened.

That's a tough question, I love lots of them.

My most recent favourite is Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion and Jewelry by Leanne Shapton. It's a graphic novel styled as an auction catalogue and has photographs and brief descriptions of the 'lots', items belonging to the couple that tell the story of their four year relationship. It sounds odd but it is really good and I found it hard to put down.

I love The Stand by Stephen King and reread it often. It's about what might happen in the world if we had a plague that wipes out most of the human race and the struggles the survivors face but it has a supernatural element with an evil man named Randall Flagg who wants to destroy those people who are left.

Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webb is one of my favourite children's books. It has a normal first chapter which sets the scene for the rest of the book, which is told as a series of letters from Jerusha, an orphan rescued by a rich benefactor she has never seen and sent away to college to receive an education and become an author. It's really sweet and very funny.

Tender is the Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald is lovely. It's told in three parts, the first focusing on Rosemary, a young Hollywood starlet who falls for a married man. The second focusing on his wife's fragile mental state and the breakdown of his marriage to her and the third showing their lives after those events.

Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons is very funny, it's about an orphaned girl called Flora Poste who has to go live on a farm with her crazy relatives, so she has to take them in hand and make them more normal but in ways that mean they aren't normal even at the end.

Memento Mori by Muriel Spark
The Adrian Mole series by Sue Townsend
The Private Memoirs & Confessions of a Justified Sinner by James Hogg
A Star Called Henry by Roddy Doyle

Wow this is great! My OH just bought me a Kindle, which I LOOOVE, and I am going reading crazy! I will be buying some of these on amazon right now!! Thank you all so much!

House of Sand and Fog, loved it, hated the movie (read the book first though)
To Kill a Mockingbird
The 5 People You Meet in Heaven
... anything by Nicolas Sparks, but I love Dear John the most I think.
Perks of Being a Wallflower (essential teen reading I think)
Star Girl (loved it when I read it when I was young, I don't know if it's the 12-13 year old me loving it... probably wouldn't enjoy it as much now)
The Belonging Place (sweet book, again from my childhood, keeping it for Elyse to read someday)
Angels and Demons... probably wouldn't read it again, but I was reading it when Pope John Paul II died, so it was more interesting to me I guess, read it in less than 48 hours... though I am not a Dan Brown fan really, didn't enjoy DaVinci Code really or whatever the other one I read was.. Digital Fortress??
The Catcher in the Rye
The Great Gatsby
1984
Harry Potter <3
The Red Tent

Working on "Promiscuities" by Naomi Wolf right now, but time for reading has been elusive lately lol
